Additionally, if we have the cap space, which I believe we do, I would also take on Marion (Carroll is better off the bench anyway) if it nets us their 1st next year as well. That would likely only occur if they were getting Howard, and it would therefore be part of a three team deal, but I would try it in a two way as well, even if it means they want a future 1st (I'm thinking 2016 with top 15 protection or something) back...next year's draft is just too good to pass up the chance of having three 1sts in it. Three 1sts, the assets we have, and our own future picks could get us the stud we need in the draft.
Regarding these deals, Miller is use to coming off the bench and would be a great mentor for Burke as the former winds down his career. I see no problems there. In the second deal, I see Marion playing 25 minutes or so a night with DMC getting 20. The only issues would be appeasing Marvin when he returns and finding enough time for Burks. Quite frankly though, I could give a **** if Marvin sulks on the bench for the last four months of his contract here and given the odds of an injury occurring (I'm thinking Marion or Miller), said time for Marvin and Burks may likely open up.
THE BOTTOM LINE. ACQUIRE AS MANY 1ST ROUNDERS (AND 2NDS) NEXT YEAR AS POSSIBLE. THIS WOULD BE STEPS ONE AND TWO. WE COULD FOLLOW IT UP WITH S&T'S OF JEFFERSON AND MILLSAP.
