What's new

Following potential 2014 draftees

Just watched Gordon play in the U19 championship game. Dude is ALL THAT! Could easily play SF, he is already filling out his 6'9" frame, and is agile like a cat. Can beat folks off the dribble, and is always moving toward the rim. He was the MVP of the tournament. Going to see a lot of him this year as I live in Tucson.

Ending up with him wouldn't suck. He actually IS what people assumed Derrick Williams was.

Aaron Gordon was just the MVP of the U19 Championships. I think he's going to be a serious player. He's playing at Arizona next year. I'm excited about Wiggins, Randle, Parker, and Gordon for the Jazz. I also like both Harrisons. I might be okay with Exum, but when I'm shopping for a superstar I'd probably buy American (or Canadian, I guess), since a large part is about having the will to dominate. Lets face it, a lot of foreigners are just friendly people.

Not saying much? With a team of Burke, Burks, Hayward, Favors, Kanter he would be the BEST player.

That's saying a lot.

I need to see more of Jabari this year to be convinced... don't get me wrong, he's good, even great,...

... but I'm looking for "Elite".

The Jazz have elite balance. Everyone on the floor will be able to go for 25 pts., and we'll be solid both offensively and defensively. I like Gordon's fire, his size, the fact that he rebounds, and the way he runs the floor. Not many players are going to stay with him.

Kanter is going to need to become dominant in a Zach Randolph sorta way.

Wow.. rich man's Pierce??? Big call!!!

You don't see the problem with his athleticism... which is well documented in the National Media?

I'm sorry.. but i have watched these kids for for far longer than "the national media"............. I am well documented here in the '12 thread warning of his lack of athleticism...

but having watched Jabari as long as I have and seeing his progression.. I have no problem pimpng him BIG. Yes.. a rich man's Pierce. He WILL be that good. (and in the '12 thread I was saying he was overrated.)

I still like Parker the most 2nd only to Wiggins... I'm just a bit nervous about his athleticism.

Realistically, the Jazz have a few weapons developing.

* Derrick Favors rolling to the rim is very difficult to stop. I don't think I've seen anyone do it. He gets a bucket or more often a foul on every attempt.
* Trey Burke is going to be a threat to knock down a jumper just about anywhere on the floor out to the 3-pt. line.
* Kanter has enough moves to demand a double-team in the post, and he can score with either hand; he's also long enough that he'll be able to get of a 15-18 foot jumper quite often.
* Alec Burks is another guy who can earn space with his drive and pull up from 15 - 18 feet anytime he wants.
* Hayward's thing seems to be shooting a jumper with his feet set and getting out on the break.

What we need is a versatile first-option scorer out on the floor, someone who is a threat to shoot, drive and pass and who has a few go-to shots that are high percentage. He needs to be able to create for himself and others when our offense is well covered, and it helps dramatically if he can put the ball on the floor and drive all the way to the rim.

It would be nice to have a dominant athlete--physically like a skilled and smart version of the young Josh Smith. I'm not sure I see that aspect in Parker, but Parker is going to be a hell of a player.

You're subconsciously describing Jabari...

Parker is around 30-40 lbs heavier than Wiggins. That strength advantage will serve him well in the NBA. Look at all the best SFs in the league, they are tanks. Lebron, Pierce, Carmelo, only Durant gets by being a twig but he also is 6'11" with a 7'5" wingspan.

OK, but they're all muscle.

I would be interested to know what Jabari's body fat % is.
