Preseason #3 Clippers at Jazz Saturday Oct 12 @ 7pm

Not going to dwell on the game too much tonight. Jazz will be lucky to beat The Clippers once this year but they're not as bad as they played tonight. Kind of like how GSW played on Tuesday. Probably a better idea to reserve your back-to-backs until the end of the preseason. Sucks about Burke - Jazz will need to pick someone up - Tinsley I'm guessing. Machado is not an NBA player.

What the hell is Brian Cook doing on an NBA team - worst body in a Jazz uniform since Amaechi

Why do we need an NBA player? I say get a fan from the crowd each night til burke is better.

Burke may be out for at most 3-4 weeks of reg season.
Jazz would have to sign another PG for a full season contract to fill in?
How would that work?

This season could be tough to watch.

For who? The fans of the other teams the Jazz play?

I signed up for this and I will gladly take it. As the season progresses we will see improvements from the players that the team wants to keep. This is the 3rd preseason game and it is against one of the best teams in the NBA.

Gobert didn't play because Corbin was playing the scrubs, they got to see these guys play if they are going to be making cuts soon. Gobert has a contract already.

Anyone want to mock me now for saying Lindsey is planning on building around Burke and next year's draft pick, and Favors, Kanter and Hayward aren't his main concern?

Lindsey wants a high pick. The core 4 will be here if they are bargains, but Lindsey won't think twice to move them/let them walk.

Yes I'll still mock you.

oh you were actually serious when you said that? lol

I don't think any of our players are unmovable. But I don't think Burke is really the guy they'll build around. Favors is still a solid interior defender and rebounder, although Gobert can probably replace most of what he does. Kanter is a versatile big man, whom I think would be difficult to replace. Hayward is a versatile complementary player, so I think he'll be kept. Burks could become trade bait under certain circumstances.

If we could get a guy like Dante Exum or one of the Harrisons in this next draft, I don't think the Jazz would mind moving Burke. I think it's Jabari Parker that the Jazz really want though, assuming they can't get Wiggins or Randle. Any one of those guys would be our primary scorer, with Kanter and Hayward being options 2 and 3.

So, you two, why would you build around any of the core 4? They have potential, but they aren't close yet. Favors has no offensive game and can't not foul anyone, Kanter is eneffective within 3 ft of the hoop (he is the anti-Griffin) and Hayward is a decent #2 and a great #3.

You don't over pay that. For the right price you keep them, but you aren't attached to them either. If they pan out, great. If not, eh. You've got Burke and a really, really high pick and amazing amounts of cap space.

I had a bad feeling once that Favors/Kanter would not be in today's NBA shape, but instead Karl Malone time's NBA shape.

I may just be frustrated from driving a 2 hour roundtrip to ESA, and watching that puke-fest in person; but right now I would trade any (and multiple) of our core4 for an all-nba guy. no question. and if that must be done through trading in the draft then so be it. the core are good-decent role players at best, and that seems unlikely to change (maybe kanter can become something, ...maybe...)

oh and p.s., where the **** is our offense? i hate this, year ****ing 3.5 of high-school level offense. I cant remember the last time we had multiple open buckets in the paint because people actually cared to set screens (not just weakly slip the screen EVERY single time), and our guys actually had intricate routes to run and roles to play (deron-booz? that was ~4.5 years ago!) . This schema is pathetic.

I didn't say I would build around them, it's too early to decide that and none of them have proven that they are capable to anchor a team. That being said, you're acting like they are all expendable in Lindsey's mind, which they aren't.

i still think anyone's expendable for the right price (on this team).

It's too early? Maybe for Kanter. Hayward, Favors are both in their fourth years. You know what they are. Hayward is an amazing third option, an okay second option. Favors is a less talented Tyson Chandler, with potential to get to Chandler.

Both are sub-10 million per year guys.

We had high hopes, it's time to be realistic.

This team will live and die with Trey Burke, as we have seen so far. When Burke plays well, we win. When he doesn't, we get blown out. If he is out for 4-6 weeks...ouch. Painful basketball to watch. We may very well get Wiggins.
