What's new

This is the game thread for the game tonight! *OFFICIAL GAME THREAD.* Post here! Us v. Them @ 7PM

Just playing the stereotypes, pretty sure it's a natural phenomena and social psychological response.

Black guys not liking being cold in the mountains might be a funny stereotype, but black guys being thieves is just an ignorant stereotype.

the Kanter situation is really depressing me. I can't figure Kanter out at all. after watching him rookie year, if you asked me what i thought his strengths would be in the NBA i would have said elite defensive rebounding, solid team defense (i remember zach lowe writing an article praising some of Kanter's D rotations early in his rookie year), and elite strength. he seemed ungodly strong his rookie year. i remember Bynum trying to back him down and getting nowhere and Kanter being pretty much an unmovable brick wall.

now he sucks at every single one of the things i thought was a strength of his. he is such a crappy defensive rebounder. just horrible. he also looks like a wimpy girl out there and can't stop anyone from backing him deep into the post. i won't even mention defensive rotations.

he needs to take two months off, clear his head, get in awesome shape and try to gain back strength, and get away from this coaching staff. he will never be athletic, so why not just go back to being a strong bull instead of this weird emo version of Kanter that sucks.

he still shows a nice shooting touch, i just wish he would return to his prior strengths.

Another good tank game. Young guys looked good but just couldn't pull it off in OT. Another loss, and the upcoming stretch of games looks brutal.

In my mind two things cost us that game last night:

1- Ridiculous officiating. Cousins initiated a slap fight on virtually every post up. Kanter looked pathetic because if he tried to fight back too much he would be whistled for a foul, and he knew that. Officials have been brutal with Kanter since he entered the league. Cousins was allowed to push with his bulk through any situation and flail around like a scarecrow in the wind and if that didn't get him where he wanted to be, he would flop like a chicken and get the call every time. Cousins has obvious talents as a basketball player yet refuses to use them in the right way. Easier i guess to physically intimidate people and more in tune with his personality. I despise DeMarcus Cousins more than any other player in the league and would cease to be a Jazz fan forever if he were ever a part of the Utah Jazz.

2- Coach (and i use the term facetiously) Tyrone Corbin. Simply fouling on Sacto's last possession of regulation would have resulted in a Jazz win almost certainly. Allowing them to come down and shot an open three to tie the game should be a criminal act in any situation. I realize that the much mourned Jerry Sloan would have done it the way Ty did (or should i say Ty did it as Jerry would have) is certain. It's all about the ingrained Jazz philosophy (Jerry's) that a three point attempt is a bad shot for any team to take. They should miss those shots because it's a low percentage shot. I cannot count the games that have been lost over the years in exactly this way. I cringe every time this situation arises because i know what the Jazz will do and i know what the result usually is. Another loss. This will not change in the event the Jazz someday become a good or even great team. If we refuse to commit that key foul we will lose many more important games in the future. Sloans explanation of this thinking is that the foul shooter will make the first free throw then purposely miss the second the other team will get the rebound and tie the game with a put back. It could happen! But very very seldom. Much less seldom than a wide open three goes down.

He played Biedrins!!! Who should simply be released outright. NOW!!!

Kanter has regressed. I keep hoping that it is a manner of coaching and not actual talent but I'm starting to fear the worst.
