Out-groups and berhaviors, stemming from joking about rape

Not sure how the ignore comment applies to you and me One Brow but congrats on understanding the meaning or the word ignore.

Look up Penny Arcade Rape on google sometime to see how quickly stupid people rush to white knight the second "rape" is thrown around.

I knew it! One Brow and write4u are the same poster! I am going to make a call to verify this. Don't wait up.

I think you have it backwards.

The rape is being used to elevate a rather meaningless sports win into something more, a brutal act of dominance. One has to acknowledge the brutality of rape in order for the metaphor to work.

The way that comparing Bush/Obama to Hitler elevates the actual complaint about them, by acknowledging the brutality of Hitler?

Are these facts, or just your personal assessment? I feel that there is at LEAST as much desensitization to death as to rape in our culture, and it's just as easy for me to find fringe groups that protest at funerals as to find fringe groups who blame the rape victim. It seems that your whole argument hinges on your own personal context of what should or should not be considered "offensive".

If the blaming of rape victims were the province of fringe groups, I would agree with you. However, blaming the victims is the common response, not the fringe response, for rape. For example, in the Steubenville case, how often did you hear the the girl in question should not have gone to the party, should not have been drinking, etc.

By "facts", are you looking for studies of this phenomena of some sort?
