Racism and privilege

Fair enough. Any cases you consider equivalent, conviction or otherwise.

How about the black woman in Phoenix that killed and dismembered a wheel chair bound disabled white man.

Or the two black teens in New Jersey that killed, dismembered and stuffed into a trash can a 10 year old white girl.

Or the black teens that chased a younger white kid onto his front porch where they lit him on fire. Remarking "that's for trayvon".

If you really wanted to read them you can google them but since I truly believe you have no interest in anything beyond your white = racist theme I have not bothered to waste my time searching for and providing links.

It was a minor and his crime was drunk driving and it was his first offense. He didn't have the intent to kill so it's not murder. Don't try and make it sound like it was.

I disagree but am going out. I will clarify later.

A manslaughter charge needs to carry more then a probation sentence. His illegal actions lead to the deaths of 4 people. he needs to do time.

This judge needs to be removed from the bench.

How about her? She pled guilty, and was sentenced to life plus 14 years. You think that was lenient?

Great example. The boys mother helped the police arrest her sons. The 15-year-old pled guilty to manslaughter and said he acted alone. He was also considered to be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, and besides he's mentally disabled. His sentence was 17 years. I'm not sure why you think that's the same thing as probation.

This one? They haven't been caught, and you think they will receive a light sentence?

I know that's what you truly believe. I'm just not sure why you are impervious to the evidence otherwise. You seem to have a very deep need to believe my theme is what you stated, even though I have never said that, I have said many times that's not what I'm saying, and I have gone into detail about what I'm saying, none of which reduces to what you claimed it was.

I know you're not stupid nor foolish. So, why are you behaving so stupidly and foolishly in this one regard?

I agree with the first paragraph.

I agree the judge needs to be seriously examined, and removal may be appropriate.

I changed my mind they should execute him. They should execute everyone.

I am for the death penalty for a few select crimes. But I think that if you are going to sentece someone to death then you carry it out. No last dinner, no 20 years on death row, no lethal injection or firing squad. You sentence them and then march their butt out back of the court house and hang them with the rope you hung the last guy with. Donate their bodies to medical research/education.

Since 1973, over 130 people have been released from death rows throughout the country due to evidence of their wrongful convictions. In 2003 alone, 10 wrongfully convicted defendants were released from death row.

That is only released from death row. Not found innocent of their crimes.

My bolded phrase should perhaps include "a few select situations" in addition to "a few select crimes".

I say Merry Christmas as that is what I am celebrating. If someone told me Happy Kwanza or Happy Ramaddan (spelling?) I would be just fine with that. It is a sign from that person that they wish good things for me. I would not be offended at all.

maybe this was answered at some point, I'm not sure...

but if you worked for an employer who, for whatever reason, requested that you refrain from saying Merry Christmas to customers (or some other religiously significant greeting) and instead use the more generic Happy Holidays, would you have a hissy fit about it?

(OK, maybe hissy fit is not a good phrase, I'm not sure - if you're offended by my use of that term, I'm sorry. Now I may have to look it up. If you have an alternative to suggest that would mean essentially the same thing, let me know. Thanks.)

because that is one problem that I've seen happen - - a good friend of mine had a conniption because her boss told his staff not to include "Merry Christmas" in their correspondence but to replace it with Happy Holidays or Best wishes for the New Year.

Funny thing, she's about as anti-religion as they come, but she was most upset that her boss was trying to dictate to his employees what they should say. I say, if it's official company correspondence, that's his prerogative.
