14th Tank Platoon

Dont jump off the ledge yet. Its just over a 3rd of the way we have the most losses so far. Its not a lost cause.

YET.

The Jazz are still in position to keep this thing in check (thanks in large part to how many teams in the east have to beat each other and that the Jazz would have a tough time finishing higher than 13th in the WC). But they have to DO SOMETHING. Going .500-ish (Jazz are, what, 8-9 since Trey came back?) is certainly not going to get it done.

We could give up all of that and get jabari.............. or just do what we should be doing and tank properly and get him without giving up any of those guys

I mean jefferson missed practice with a back injury, so its a perfect time to sit him, but he plays anyway.
Burke rolls his ankle in the game, so we could have easily had him miss the rest of the game last night and get a crucial loss, instead he comes back in very quickly and finishes the game

what the jazz are doing (trying to win, when they should be trying to lose) could be said to be honorable or respectable, but honor and respect dont bring as many championships around as talented players does.
I don't even think it is dishonorable to be cautious in a season that means little. Why play somebody with a small injury that is vulnerable additional injury when we are not competing. Save that player's health for next season when we can compete. It's not hard to tell the medical staff to be extremely conservative with injuries this year.

We. Signed. John. Lucas. The. Turd.

We were tanking so hard, and now we have to pull some more tank moves. Tank you very much.
Somebody forgot to tell the coach that. If there's going to be some moves made, it will have to come from DL. Ty's trying to win hard to save his job and Burke is his Black Jesus Savior. Hence why we've barely seen JLIII since he came back. The only moves that he has is to trade away Marvin and Jefferson so that it elevates Kanter and either Evans or Burks into starting roles and then forces them to play a bench of Gobert, Biedrins, Harris, Evans/Burks, Garrett and JLIII. Forces the young kids to step up and play together around Burke, but also is probably the worst bench in the league. One or both of those two things could get the tank back on its tracks.

And this.

It's pretty obvious to most of us that we need to do something. The Tank is in real danger. Hardest part of the schedule is over and since Trey came back he's keeping us competitive.

The "culture" and "lessons" taught this year aren't worth the talent we will be losing out on. Talent and superstars win in this league. It's that simple. We aren't going to sign a superstar via free agency. Gotta get one through the draft. The best way? Tank. Get a top 3 pick. Why rely on another team's stupidity in trading for Kanter or the GS pick when we could just win that top 3 pick on our own? Secure our future with jabari. Then work on trading Kanter or putting that GS pick to good use. Or doing a S&T involving Hayward.

I really do think this stems from an ownership that isn't sure whether to stay the course or not... A coach fighting for his life... And vets who are trying desperately to stay in the league and score new contracts.

It's something that we all overlooked and yet is so obvious. Corbin gains nothing by tanking and helping his former employer (the Jazz) out. Neither do the vets. DL and Gotee D-bag need to come together and figure this out and fast! Fire Corbin right now if you have to. The long-term success of this franchise is worth more than these short-term gains of barely squeaking by the Lakers JV team.

Burke is the ultimate competitor so it is a delicate situation. You can't tell the guy "we are going to sit you and kill your ROY chances, so we can get a pick next year which we like more than you....."
Hayward is playing for a contract, so you can't sit him without a mess. Sitting Jefferson just means Burks plays more, which improves us. I don't know if there is an easy way to get the tank back on track. Trading Marvin is the only thing we can do that is going to have any real impact.

Play kanter and burks in the starting lineup with favors burke and hayward and play them all 35 minutes (like we should be doing).
For the 13 minutes have lucas, ian clarke, mike harris, evans, and gobert.

Play jeffy and marvin ZERO minutes.... screw em, they gone next year anyway.

Then if we are still winning too much we just live with and realize that our young core plays well together and are just too damn good to tank

I think we need to give Corbin an extension so he can get on board with the tank. When the season's over, go ahead and let him go. You may think that's a dick move, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Plus he'll get whatever money from the "extension."

Why not trade Burks?

I don't see him being a starter for a championship team. I do however, see him putting up good stats on a crappy team. He helps us right now. I don't see him helping us as a good team. Too limited range and no defense. Trade burks, reup Hayward, push Hayward to the 2, and draft Jabari to play the 3.

Burke, Hayward, and Parker make us a deadly 3 pt shooting team. Favors would become devastating with 3 pt shooters like that keeping defenders out of the paint.

I see burks as a JR Smith like player. Great off the bench horrible as a starter. If we can keep him, great. But we shouldn't keep him at the detriment of Jabari. Or heck, Wiggins or Randle.

This season's objective was clear and simple: play the c5 tons. If they could play together, great! If not, great! And we would rack up the losses to draft our franchise along the way. Whether we went 0-82 or 10-72, it mattered not.

Instead, we have abandoned the tank and really look like we are trying to make a playoff push. Sure bench Kanter every now and then for stupidity. Same with burks and Favors. Ride Jefferson every now and again to make him feel important. But no major roles, like we see today.

The mere fact that we have no idea whether Kanter and Favors can play together but know that Marvin Williams can explains everything we need to know about how well this tank is going. We need to know this stuff now since moves this offseason depend on whether our 2 bigs can go forward together or if one needs to be traded.

Gobert, for that matter, needs to be given some burn. Can he and favors play together? What about a crazy lineup of Gobert, Favors, and Evans?

I still say relax. As long as we end up somewhere in the bottom 6 then we got a shot..

I think the Jazz will, and should, play chicken with this a little. Its not time to panic yet. There is a lot of games left to be played. There is a very good chance we sustain some injuries down the road. And thats when we will collect our losses.

It is a delicate situation when it comes to what message we are sending the players by doing certain things. It was so bad at the beginning of the year that it was kind of scary. A lot of people were quick to wanna just blow it all up. I think that the Jazz are afraid of that. So they wouldn't mind seeing a liitle success while the whole team is healthy.

I think that the Jazz should hold course until the trade deadline and then evaluate what should be done. Give the players some hope for next year and some confidence going into next year.

I disagree. Much like Boozer's raise, the wins will come regardless. We need full tank mode to compensate for the fact that we're too talented/prideful to finish in the bottom 5. I don't mind if we muster up some courage to knock off OKC, San Antonio or Golden State, but I'll be damned if I have to watch us continue to win games against Sacramento, Philadelphia and Cleveland.

You clearly did not read my post and are just being irrational.

I read the post and these are the major premises that I completely reject:

1. Its not time to panic yet.
2. There is a very good chance we sustain some injuries down the road ... [a]nd thats when we will [should?] collect our losses.
3.It was so bad at the beginning of the year that it was kind of scary.
4. A lot of people were quick to wanna just blow it all up.

I don't feel we have the luxury of just assuming injuries will hurt us down the stretch. If we play the line this tight it will more than likely come back to bite us in the *** when "just three games" separates 199 combinations from 43 combinations.

Alright fine, you win. Those are very convincing arguments. I am conceding victory to you. Even though we are 9-23, lets panic. Im with ya. How does this work though? What should I do?

Get upset. Bitch to your family. Go to bed in a bad mood. Complain on message boards. Stop paying taxes. Watch My Little Pony.

It would appear that Heat receive Sixers 2014 first-round pick. Top 14 protected in 2014 and 2015 or extinguished.

A fewer tank competitor!

I think you have that backwards. That gives the Sixers even more reason to tank. They keep the pick if they finish in the lottery. If they make the playoffs then the Heat get the pick.
