Gay marriage in Utah put on hold

There are some contraditions in many of the findings, but yes there is a possible link between agression and testosterone. Not only that but the possibility for agression to be effective is much higher with higher levels of testosterone because there is a definitive link between testosterone and muscule mass and social dominance.

I think that the increased success of aggression makes complete sense.

How do you tease out the feedback effects of success through aggression on aggression level with the notion that the increased aggression is innate, especially given that the results seem contradictory?

I do not believe that our hormones have anything at all to do with our mood or the way we behave toward others. Everything is completely learned and taught and nothing has anything to do with biology whatsoever.

(my wife was watching me type that and I didn't want to upset her....she is so pms'ing right now)

Haha, nice.

I will disagree with you, sir. Because of my liver issues, I have been lucky enough to have the testosterone levels of an 87 year old man. Once they figured that out, I started taking weekly injections of synthesized nut power into my ***. Everyone in the world has commented that I'm much more testy - ba-dum, tish - up to a few days after the shot. I don't know if I would call it "aggressive", but things that normally don't bother me really bother me, and I tend to yell more. As for the muscle myth, I'm still a blob.

I wasn't reassuring you. I was informing you that the eventual ruling of universal homosexual marriage is inevitable, and has precedent in other SCOTUS actions.

anyone else see the term SCOTUS and think for a second it says *******?

especially in a thread discussing g'day marriage!

Feminazis Beverly Jones and Judith Brown: "The married woman knows that love is, at its best, an inadequate reward for her unnecessary and bizarre heritage of oppression."

blah blah anti-marriage quotes

Do you make any distinction between Feminists and "Feminazis?" Or are all feminists also feminazis?

You do realize, that the quotes you posted are a very small minority opinion right? It would be like posting wacky Lyndon Larouche quotes as examples of what Democrats believe.

Are you taking any ancillary drugs to offset the exogenous supply of testosterone? If not, the test that you are given is quickly turned into various estrogen derivatives such as estradiol which would explain your "female reactions" for a few days after each shot. Also, what type of test are you taking and how much?

For whatever reason your body thinks it should have the testosterone level of an 87 year old man. When you introduce an outside source of testosterone your body will do several things because it now has way more test than it thinks it should:

1. It shuts down all natural production of testosterone. This is why taking test shots causes ********* to shrink.
2. It starts to eradicate all the extra test by converting (aromatizing) it into a different compound, estradiol.
3. It shuts down your androgen receptors by blocking them with estradiol so that any extra testosterone that you have can't be used by your body.
4. If test levels continue to stay elevated your body will actually create more estrogen receptors exacerbating the problem even more.

Essentially you now have the hormone profile of a post-menopausal woman. The fact that you are moody and still a lard *** are good indicators that the testosterone shots are doing you little to no good.

Just for ****s and giggles ask if them to test your estradiol (E2) levels the next time you get a blood test. If it is anywhere north of 30 pg/mL you are hosing your self with the testosterone shots.

As opposed to girls, whom we teach that it is never acceptable to use their violent nature. Both boys and girls have violent natures. We train one in it, and the other out of it.

I've taught my daughters that if the situation calls for it they are to use any means of violence necessary to extricate themselves from it. My 19 year old took this to heart and used violence very effectively on one occasion of which I am very proud.

Isn't anyone worried about the slippery slope that a Utah win might put us on?

What happens if the Theocracy which runs this state reverts back to the "traditional marriage" laws it had 80 years ago and only let white people get married to other whites? What happens if the state takes it further, only card carrying republican registered Mormons can get married?

Doesn't anyone see the path before us if we let the state define what a marriage is?

What mind of freedom is that?

Legislating morality is never good. I've heard of a certain man who tried that. In fact, he even presented a plan and not one person would be lost. Of course, no one would have the chance to choose in his plan. Thankfully, his plan was rejected.

In our state, you have days that you can't buy alcohol on. The state owns all liquor stores. They legislate nanny government for restaurants. They even have a "Zion Curtain" to prevent the kiddies from even seeing wine because apparently kids might fall into temptation if they're ever exposed to such horrendous sin. (Yet, we look the other way when sending high school kids thousands of miles away to the poorest nations on earth). By the time I got back from Brazil I had seen more nudity, scary bear dogs, drug addicts, guns, and dead people than cups of coffee or glasses of wine. Thank goodness the Zion Curtain shielded me from seeing anything "horrible" in my life.

I just wish we practiced what we preached. Give us liberty or give us death. Teach men correct principles and let them govern themselves. No more nanny government that takes away peoples' free agency. Don't want a gay marriage? don't get one. Free market. Invisible hand.

So, along the lines of this topic, but on a tangent. Has anyone noticed how strongly "gay is ok" is being pushed in media right now? My wife and kids watch several shows, including Glee and The Fosters, in which gay lifestyle is not just celebrated, but almost posed as the norm, with straights rapidly being in the minority. In Glee, which has to be the singularly stupidest show ever produced, they now have somewhere around 8 fully out and committed gay couples in a small high school in Ohio, and much of the show centers around their relationships. In The Fosters it is a story about a lesbian couple raising a family.

My wife, who has far more conservative views than I do regarding homosexuals (I believe live and let live, she finds this whole thing somewhat disturbing), feels that this is beginning to "take over", and has some very heavy concerns about my 12 year old daughter watching these shows. I told her that in the end biology trumps hype, but there will always be that very small percentage of the population that is looking to get a rise out of people, or trying so hard to be "different" that is might have some influence on some people. I had a bigger problem with the portrayal of sex in general to be as normal as a handshake with absolutely zero consequences, but that is pervasive on its own.

But it is interesting how this seems to be a thing now. For any TV show or movie to make it there must be a gay presence, even though for the vast majority of people there isn't necesssarily anything like that in their daily lives. I have more than a few gay friends, but none in this area that we see even monthly, mostly acquaintances. I have informally conducted this kind of poll among people I know and other than many of them knowing about someone at work who is gay, most people don't directly know anyone who is gay, or at least who is out and living it openly.

Another thing that I read today that got me thinking about this was an article on gizmodo about CES. They had a section on new hi-tech adult toys. With one of them they mentioned it was designed to be used during man/woman sex, and then added "if you're into that". I am sure it was meant tongue in cheek, but it sure seemed fitting after the discussions I have had with my family about this over the last week. Of course, no one is into THAT any more. That is so first 10k years of human history, it's not "today" man. Today everyone is into anything BUT man/woman sex. What do you think I am, a square?

So what do you think about this trend to gay-ify our lives until it appears that everyone is gay and only the weirdos have heterosexual thoughts at all?

This is a more complicated statement than you let on, keep that in mind. I don't have the freedom to kill my neighbor's irritating kids. I don't have the freedom to go into Walmart and take whatever I want without paying for it, or out of my neighbor's garage, or from work. Laws have a place, and some of them can be equated to legislating morality (thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal). The question is, which issues, if allowed unchecked, are damaging enough to society as a whole to warrant legislation and which are not.

So gays can't get married but this piece of trash can?

But what about the morality? Is homosexuality worse than murder? What about the children? Can't we think of the children???

DRAPER — Utah death row inmate Troy Kell was married at the Utah State Prison on Thursday afternoon.

Details on who the woman is and how the pair met are unknown, but prison officials confirmed that the wedding took place before two witnesses and a justice of the peace, which is customary unless the inmate designates a different officiant, Utah Department of Corrections spokesman Steve Gehrke said.

The nuptials took place in a small room with a barrier that prevents any physical contact. Kell's violent history, which includes his time in prison, required that he remain handcuffed during the entire ceremony. The two were not allowed any contact before, during or after the wedding took place.

Kell was sentenced to death in 1996 for the brutal murder of fellow inmate Lonnie Blackmon, whom Kell stabbed 67 times with a homemade shank. He was seen on prison video surveillance tape recordings, strutting and yelling "white power" after killing Blackmon, who was African-American.

I do not believe that our hormones have anything at all to do with our mood or the way we behave toward others.

I would have no trouble accept that hormone levels influence aggression, if there were evidence for it. I accept that we have evidence for. To my knowledge, the sum of the evidence does not connect the two.

I think you are taking a few select examples and exaggerating their significance, reach, and influence. Can you name two lead gay characters from a Hollywood movie in 2013? If we go through all of network prime time, how many shows have even two gay characters?

You've never seen Modern Family, have you?

I assume you are only counting studios that are free/non-cable like ABC, NBC, FOX and CBS shows?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dramatic_television_series_with_LGBT_characters

Glee - CBS
Modern Family - ABC
Dracula - NBC
Under the Dome - CBS
The Carrie Diaries - The CW
The Following - FOX
Camp - NBC
Chicago Fire - NBC
Scandal - ABC
Smash - NBC
Once Upon A Time - ABC
Revenge - ABC
Ringer - The CW
Dance Academy - ABC
Gossip Girl - The CW
Reaper - The CW
Dirty Sexy Money - ABC
Brothers and Sisters - ABC
Ugly Betty - ABC
Grey's Anatomy - ABC
Desperate Housewives - ABC

This is just prime time basic networks. ABC is by far and away the "leader".

If you go to the link and look at the entire list it is quite extensive.
