Enes will never be as good as Favors in defense, but he will be better on offense. Time will show...

I give credit to Favors for his game, I just said that he is not a spectacular player. It would be nice if sometimes he would exult after a play.

My bad, I forgot that players of Hayward's caliber only come around once a decade. Well, maybe we could settle on guys like Manu Ginobili, Nicolas Batum and Lance Stephenson instead in the 20+ pick range of the draft? No?

I think we are talking about the difference between being a good team vs being a championship caliber team if we keep rebuilding and letting pieces like Hayward, Millsap, etc go. At some point, we need to crap or get off the pot.

Also, stop comparing the AK situation to Hayward. Hayward will max out at about $15 mil per year with a max contract, when the salary cap could be close to $70 mil. AK maxed out at like $18 mil at the end of his contract, when the salary cap was below $58 million per year. That is a HUGE difference, and is not being talked about. Also, if Hayward signs for near max or max, he will be off the books when Trey is up for an extension, and our big rookies deal will not be up for extension until even later than that.
 
I'm really enjoying seeing the Core5 guys come up big, even if it nets a win. Still think they should move Jefferson and Marvin ASAP. Whatever you can get for them is good. Marvin/Jefferson played a combined 58 minutes tonight.

Favors at 5, Kanter at 4 (in place of Marvin), Evans at 3 tonight (instead of Jefferson and filling in for the injured Hayward), Burks starting at 2 with Burke running the show. Then use Biedrins and Gobert to spell Favors/Kanter, and Rush, Garrett and JLIII for the backcourt. Probably pick up a D-League SF or veteran FA on a minimum contract to come off the bench. Young guys get tons of minutes together, Ty still has Beidrins, Lucas and Evans as the veteran presence and the bench sucks bad enough to ensure the tank keeps rolling even on a good night.

as for Jefferson and marvin....if you cant trade them for picks then just bench em.

I'm ok with all but the last part. Lindsey will have to modify his strategy: Jazz get two solid players in the draft, but no all-star. Instead of rolling over cap space into future assets, Lindsey will need to acquire a veteran for the expiring contracts. There's room under the tax threshold to keep the core PLUS add another top rotation player.

If we get a solid coach in here instead of someone infatuated with playing old guys, I think this team could be special.

We'd be like the 2003-04 edition of the Memphis Grizzlies under Hubie Brown. They were two-deep at every position, but didn't have any real stars. And they maxed out at 50 wins. Need a couple of players to be go-to guys and team leaders. Don't have that yet. Sorry, don't think that comes from Burke. Nice player, but not all-star caliber.

Hayward is a good player and a guy that I think the Jazz want to build around. He's not a #1 guy, but I don't know if the Jazz will be able to land a guy like that unless they hit the lottery jackpot. The bigger question in my mind is if the Jazz can figure out how to get Favors/Kanter and Hayward/Burks on the court at the same time. I personally think that a Core5 lineup has some serious potential together. If that's the case, then you need to use the draft picks and cap space to draft and buy a bench to support them.

I agree with this. ^^^^ Big time.

Too bad Brad Stevens and Jeff Hornacek are taken. Think they'd both be great fits for this roster.

I'd like someone like George Karl that plays at a much faster pace and uses the altitude to his advantage. I think this group would be pretty good if you'd let them run the floor.

You were able to come up with three whole players in a 10+ year span? Well done. And what do we do with them after 4 years and they want a ton of money just like Hayward? Keep hitting the reset button until we find one who takes a home team discount?

We need a coach as Popovich to make the most of the Core5. We have to follow the model of the Spurs. They are not a big market team and they built their team around 3 players (only Duncan was a 1st overall pick). It means that with a good coach and with a good planning you can make big things, even snubbing the draft!

Seriously tired about people whining about wins.. More specifically in a game where our young core looked amazing. I have watched a lot of college basketball this year and all I can say is that being in the lottery at all this year is a great opportunity. If you're limiting yourselves to only Jabari Parker highlights, you're missing out. Check out Rodney hood, Gary Harris, James young, Wayne seldin, Jerami Grant and many others. All of these guys are late lottery or mid first rounders. Yes Jabari looks great but it's not the end of the world if our youngsters are developing at a faster rate than expected.

Exactly, then there's the other 200+ draft picks that did not turn out to be like Hayward. I really hate when people say the draft is the answer to everything, yeah there are a few gems, but there's also a whole butt load of busts and average players.
 
Just watched the game highlights on espn.......... they show ONE basket by burks and its one of the lamest ones he had all night.

So now I gotta do the grunt work for you? You're the one that made the claim that the odds are astronomical to find someone of Hayward's caliber (or even a rotational player) in the 20+ range in the draft, why don't you do some research and back up your claim and I'll gladly tear it apart. btw, I also forgot to mention Chandler Parsons...
