What's new

In Which the Utah Jazz tango with the Cleveland Cavaliers Fri, Feb 28 5:30 MT

no intensity = bad rebounding night

we just weren't ready to play. i'm finally on a fire corbin bandwagon. i've had enough.

I don't see how Corbin keeps his job after this season, but I can see him coaching the remainder of the season to help our draft position.

If we are merely going to use our PG as a jump shooter, we might as well sign Jimmer. He's a far better jump shooter. Trey doesn't play any defense, create, pass, or get to the free throw line. If anything, maybe Jimmer could get to the FT line or something.

I for one am glad the Jazz lost. The way we lost was upsetting. Bad coaching equals poor effort tonight. No reason at All that Jefferson is getting major minutes.

We had 3 fast break pts....

What's weird is that we play slow and yet still don't get any pts in the paint. If we are going to play slow then we better be jamming it down the other team's throat down low.

In football, we are a bad passing offense that refuses to run the ball.

I really don't understand why Corbin isn't designing our offense like the grizz. If playing big and slow is our strong suit, then we have got to own the paint... Not ignore our bigs and/or continue to chuck up jumpers.

Instead, it's like we are trying to play like the warriors. But we don't force the turnovers, play too slow, and don't have the shooters.

It's seriously as if our team receives zero thought, preparation, and coaching. I've seen ward basketball teams with better coaching than our jazz.

About the rebounding, the difference between both teams seems too high and the fan always associate rebounding with the big men so therefor it has to be the fault of Enes and Derrick because they have 2 and 3 rebounds. In my opinion it's a team thing. If Derrick is boxing out his man and Gordon, Trey, Alec or who ever is on the court "steals" the rebound I don't have a problem with that as long as our % are where they are supposed to be! That clearly wasn't the case tonight on neither side of the floor.

I checked out Cleveland's OREB and here is my analysis(also the video from nba.com)

https://on.nba.com/1hxKR1e

14 allowed OREB

1st:

- missed shot by Jack(good D from Gordon)
- Marvin is not boxing out Hawes
- Derrick is there with the help D(blocked shot)

2nd:

- PnR with Zeller as the roll man, Enes was there but still nice help from Evans
- that should be Enes's rebound he watched the ball too long and didn't look out for an opponent
- still Gordon should be nearer to the rim (shot at the rim = short rebound,it's not like Deng could get it from the perimeter) but mainly that's on Enes

3rd/4th:

- Enes with the close out at the perimeter
- no body seems to care to boxout

5th/6th:

- missed shot by Irving (looked like good D from Trey, could be a foul but as long as the refs are not calling it it's good D)
- now here is the thing I don'T know how the hell Alec is guarding Hawes and Marvin is on Jack but if you are the veteran on this team and you know this game you talk to Alec and say to him "listen the second he makes his move to the basket we're switching" but of course nothing happens and Derrick is battling with Thompson and Hawes.
- Alec kinda tried to boxout but just let Hawes go right by him(somebody should show him how to boxout! Nobody expects that he is stronger than Hawes but a little more effort and technique ain't a bad thing)
- Derrick maybe allowed the rebounds but still protected the basket!

7th:

- Derrick is boxing out Thompson
- Trey didn't react as fast as Irving so he tipped the ball right in to Thompson

8th:

- Enes rotates over from the weak side to help on Irving who misses the shot
- Derrick kinda smells the situation but is to late but it is not his rotation anyway
- that's on Gordon. If Enes is rotating to help, Gordon has to do the same thing

9th:

- first good D from Enes helping on Dellavadova, than bad D from him he slept and didn't bother to go to his man in time, Thompson didn't shoot immidiatly and tried to soot over Enes but missed
- Derrick did not boxout properly, Gordon either has to get that rebound or move his *** to the free throw line, Enes should be in front of Thompson and at the end Alec couldn't do no more
- collective failure

10th/11th:

- Derrick is boxing out Thompson but sees that the ball is too short and tries to go over to help Marvin who was doing things but boxing out wasn't one of them
- Derrick defends the first tip in but the ball falls right into Thompsons hand

12th/13th:

- poss. with Rudy
- no Derrick or Enes

So both Derrick and Enes could maybe have one DREB more but it's not like that one more rebound would make their stat sheets more appealing or could make any of us happier. It was a team problem more than Derrick and Enes but why do I even bother...
