Following potential 2014 draftees

Message versus meaning

“Definitely L.A. is one option,” he said. “I’ve been to L.A. many times and I love the city, and it is a great city. If I get the opportunity to go to L.A. and play for the Lakers, I know I’ll have love for the city. But just to be in an environment where you have a great player like Kobe, where you have a mentor in a way as a rookie, I think that would be the best option.”

And if a Utah reporter were to ask him about playing with the Jazz, Dante may say something like: “Definitely Utah is one option. If I get the opportunity to go to Utah and play for the Jazz it would be fantastic to be part of the rebuilding process and play with great young talent.”

Never smart to diss a potential new fan base.

"But would Exum go so far as to try to angle his way onto the Lakers, who currently have the fifth-worst record in the NBA? That’s the concern among some front-office executives around the league.“When you hear some of what he says, it does make you wonder how the process is going to go as far as workouts and that sort of thing,” one general manager told Sporting News."

Complete conjecture by a GM.

You are correct. And I stand corrected...a bit. But I'd say the red flags are certainly there.

Remember this?

"Kanter reportedly refused to participate in interviews with the UtahJazz, Toronto*Raptors*and MilwaukeeBucks. The Jazz hold the No. 3 and No. 12 picks in the draft, the Raptors are the No. 5 pick and the Bucks are the No. 10 selection."

Maybe there is more to the story.

Slow down. Maybe you should be patient and see if Exum refuses to workout for teams before you attach these tags on him.

But it makes a good story for someone who's cutting himself with regularity...

He probably was asked 2 trick questions like:
1) What's your favorite holiday location in the USA?`
-> “Definitely L.A. is one option,” he said. “I’ve been to L.A. many times and I love the city, and it is a great city."
2) If the Lakers draft you and you get a chance to play with Kobe, are you be excited about it?
-> " If I get the opportunity to go to L.A. and play for the Lakers, I know I’ll have love for the city. But just to be in an environment where you have a great player like Kobe, where you have a mentor in a way as a rookie, I think that would be the best option.”

So now you connect these two quotes and suddenly it can appear on first sight like you're only focused on landing in LA...
That's simply what bad journalists do all the time.( And I know that for a fact)

Maybe you should contact Exum and ask him for an telephone interview for jazzfanz.com
Ask him the homer questions and he'll do you the courtesy and be polite about them. Now you do the tricky part and make a loop out of a rope.

Since it's playoff time right now and prospect business will be slow over the course of the next month until the draft lottery I expect very little valuable input and impact in this thread.
And a lot of: "We're mountain ppl none wants to live here" - QQ

I hope we can get a few background personality stories on the international guys since these kind of cover childhood stories already exist on the college guys.

There is more background/life story info on Exum than any other prospect.

"I don't want to go somewhere like the [LA] Clippers who have Chris Paul and be stuck behind him,'' he said. ''I want to go to a team which is going to want and need me, and hopefully get minutes in my first season."

is really the closest he's come to taking about places he doesn't want to be. Chad Ford has been the one warning about workout availability

Q: Could Dante Exum work as 2 alongside somebody like MCW at the next level? Chad Ford: Yes, he can play both positions. But I know he really wants to be a NBA point guard and I don't think teams that have a young point guard will get a visit from Exum for workouts. I can't see his agent, Rob Pelinka, sending him to Philly for example.

UNLV should be really good this year...

Goodluck Okonoboh and Khem Birch would easily be one of the best rim protecting front courts in the nation and Rashad Vaughn and Dwayne Morgan on the wing is about as dynamic as you will find

Jazz getting Jabari.

yup, thought about this last night... its happening

Jabari Parker 3rd

Jerami Grant 23rd

Deonte Burton 35th

I've been warming up to the idea of Jerami Grant at 23.. hes an electric athlete to find outside of the lottery, 7'2½" wingspan, 41" vertical with some nice agility, while he isnt particularly skilled hes shown tremendous improvement since last year. With some work on his Jumper and Ball-Handling, and a smooth transition from Zone Defense to man, he could end up being a major steal (sorta reminds me of a SF version of Jeremy Evans, with more potential defensively)
