The Best Albums of 2010

I'm curious how everyone listens to this stuff. Do you buy the actual CD? Download the album on I-tunes? I find myself listening to sports talk radio to and from work and am so lost on contemporary music unless I'm with the missus in her car. I don't know, there's only so much time in a day and as much as I love music, I never make time to listen to it since radio is sort of hit or miss and I have other interests (insert obvious joke here) after work.

I have a weekly music newsletter I send out...so I still buy a lot of music from the record store...both on CD and vinyl. Music is woefully important to me...just like one dollar bills are to YB.

Okay, so what are 10 albums I must buy? Genre need not matter though I'll pass on country, jazz, and classical recommendations.

I use Zune, but Rhapsody is looking like more and more of an option. I just filled my 120 gig, and am having personal trouble sorting through bands I'm okay with deleting.

Funny. I think that's his worst album.

I know my views on Kanye are somewhat heterodox however.

I'd rank them:

1. Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
2. Late Registration
3. College Dropout (A near heresy I know)
4. 808s and Heartbreaks
5. Graduation

.

I like this...
MBDTF is a great album... for now. Lets see how the rap game goes over the next 6 months, see if we've seen a game changer... or just a really nice try.

I probably enjoy Graduation to listen to the most. Tracks like Good Life, Homecoming, The Glory are just good ear candy. However I don't think it's the best, there was nothing wow'worthy on that album, it was just a good rap album. 808, College Dropout, and MBDTF were legitimately fresh, like nothing going on in the rap community at the time. I think Late Registration holds just as much weight, because it showed Kanye's ability to endure the sophomore slump and push good tunes.

BUT...
Has anyone else noticed that Kanye has kind of made this transition through his career from 'comparatively' Tyler Perry to Quentin Tarantino.

Just saying

Outkast - Aquemini, Stankonia
Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint, The Blueprint 2, The Black Album
Notorious BIG - Ready to Die
Nas - Illmatic
Lil Wayne - Tha Carter 2, Dedication 2
Kanye West - College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation
Eminem - Everything (Don't forget 'Infinite') besides Relapse, though even that is lyrically amazing.

R&B/Neo-soul: John Legend and Musig Soulchild (all of it)

I just don't see how it's a 'game changer' unless you really don't listen to rap/hip hop that much.

iTunes downloads make up the vast majority of my new music purchases. A factor that you may not be considering in how we find time to listen is that some of us (myself included) have jobs that allow us to listen to our iPods for significant portions of the day.

Two albums that I don't think were mentioned thus far that I liked a lot this year (I refuse to look at the whole spin list because I'm not clicking through 41 screens) were "Fortress" by Miniature Tigers and "Stuck on Nothing" by Free Energy.

Its not. Dont worry about it.

Just ordered some Chinese food...haven't had it in ages as my gf has the palate of a three year old. Got two dinner combos, nothing too interesting. Pork Lo Mein combo and Chicken with mixed veggies combo. Substituted white rice for pork fried rice in both.

Extra msg. Yeah boi.

I think we agree. I think you're just being a hack.

What Joker Didn't Say
Hey guys. Dis albem is gamchanger.... LOLZ!!!!11!!!
What Joker Did Say
The extremely meticulous and artful manner in which Kanye West created this album, is a highlight in this year of music. It is, however, too soon to judge the consequences of this album in the rap game.

Have KEK give you some reading comprehension tips.

Give it up. That album came out 12 years ago, and wasn't anything special.
