Following potential 2014 draftees

Not a bad list. I'm perfectly ok with Exum or Smart. Need a third guard and the competition will either make Burke better or make him expendable. Am hoping for Wiggins if the Jazz move up, or Gordon if the Jazz remain at #5. Vonleh is a dark horse; I like his size and potential. Just depends on how he does during workouts.

Like most of this.

Yeah, Vonleh is the hardest to peg for me. I didn't watch him enough. Partially cause whenever Indiana was playing I kept waiting for Vonleh to do something impressive and would just get bored.

If we miss out on the top 4, I'll most likely be pulling for Air Gordon.

1. Wiggins
2. Embiid
3. Parker
4. Exum
5. Gordon
6. Smart

It's close between Randle, Vonleh, and Saric for me. Really hard to say.

I think Randle and Vonleh are clearly ahead of Saric for the Jazz. Randle and Saric should be capable scorers. Saric looks like a pass-happy stretch 4. My only concern with Vonleh is if he has a passive demeanor like Favors does, rather than angry swag like Randle.

Don't Boller and Harpring have a hard enough time mixing up Burke/Burks without adding a second Gordon to the team?

Saric's scoring numbers are actually quite good. As someone said earlier in the thread Lindsey was probably in Europe to scout Saric for one.

Just imagine if Hot Rod were still doing the games.

This might swing the argument in favor of Randle. I think adding a couple of players with attitude to the team could get others to play with some fire.

Gordon is honestly the biggest mystery to me. His obvious pluses are his athleticism, motor and elite defensive potential. His drawbacks are a defined offensive role at the next level (is he just a guy that collects the majority of his points in transition and put backs or can he consistently hit a mid-range jumper and be a force in the paint?) and atrocious FT%.

Some will say that his FT% will come around but if it doesn't he's a huge liability come crunch time. Then that negates a lot of his pluses.

He's an elite athlete though and can guard damn near anyone. If he didn't have the FT% issues and had a more refined offensive game he'd likely be going #1.

And you can determine that how?

All of this is true.

My concern is that the Jazz lack a true #1 scorer and he will NEVER be that. I fact he might be a rich man's Ronnie Brewer. That's scary and not in a good way.

I'd still take him top 10 though.

Wiggins, Parker, and Embiid are the only ones who could become that.

(we really need to jump up in the lottery)

4th guard.
We already have a 3 guard rotation. (Hayward, burke, and burks)

Hopefully our new coach will figure a way to use Hayward primarily at the 3 (if we don't get wiggins or jabari) if we do in fact draft exum or smart.

I don't know enough about exum (and don't think any of us do) to confidently say that he can not become a #1 scorer for us.
