Following potential 2014 draftees

By virtue of the fact that Saric is primarily a pass-first perimeter-oriented player. And by virtue of the fact that he lacks the athleticism to be much of an offensive force in the lane. He won't draw a double or be able to score over the defense...not ideal for a PF.

If you draft Saric, you're basically conceding that your #1 offensive option is going to be someone else.

Really? Saric put up 17 ppg (which from a pure scoring perspective, is very good in Europe) with solid efficiency at age 19/20. I see him more as a scorer and rebounder who can pass. Also, you say he lacks athleticism to be an offensive force in the lane, but he got to the FT line a ton in the Adriatic league.

Solid post all around, I like Saric a lot. I'd snatch him up around pick ten or so, but could change.

Could be in play if the Jazz drop, especially if they hire Messina.

Hmmm, I wonder if the Jazz were sitting at 5/6 and really liked Saric if they would consider trading down.

The more I learn about him the more I like about him. My biggest question is where the Adriatic league is at these days. When I followed Euro ball closely in the early 2000s it was about as good as any of them. Not sure if it's still there.

Right. Will see what he can do in the NBA. I don't really see him being top 7 in this draft, but maybe he comes into play after that, imo.

You make it sound like he's skinny Kevin Love.

Adriatic league was never that competitive mostly due the economic situation there. It's a very young league in general as most Balkanese prospects make their baby steps there at home.

If I had to rank European domestic leagues it would be like:

Spain
VTB United League(Russia, Lithuania etc)
Turkey
Greece(it's basically 2 teams)
Italy
France, Germany
Israel
Adriatic
Belgium

Uh, he led the league in scoring and rebounding. He was more than a full two rebounds above the second place guy. IOW, at age 19/20, he wasn't just a good rebounder, he was a dominant rebounder.

The Adriatic league this past season had Charles Jenkins, Nolan Smith, DJ Strawberry, Demarcus Nelson, Tarence Kinsey - these are grown men who were very good college players at the highest levels and/or played in the NBA - along with Euros in their 20s and 30s and you are really going to argue the leauge is worse than high major college?

I don't think any of these leagues is worse than any college conference due to the fact that experience will trump inexperienced college kids any time combined with a gameplan.

I also wanna say that it's very hard to rate quality of these league because there's some weird leagues like Greece and Israel which have 2-3 very high quality teams and the rest is a lot worse.

Makes sense.

Not to stereotype (too much), but he looks like a Turkoglu, Ilyasova, Gallinari type of complementary player. I wouldn't think that's what we're fishing for unless we think we've found our scorer (Burks? Favors?) to build the offense around. Maybe if the Jazz end up picking 7th, or if we trade down...

Otherwise, I don't see how he's in the conversation in the top 6.

I guess it's reasonable to ask if we'd consider trading Kanter for him, but that's pretty risky, imo.

Wasn't someone, a couple hundred pages back, asking for proof that Wiggins head was at the rim when dunking and what not?

Well, I found some proof.

Here's the video that really shows off Wiggins leaping ability.

I strongly disagree. His rebounding is superior to all 3 of these, so is his playmaking. Ilyasova is purely a spot up shooter, Turkoglu had some playmaking skills and could shoot 3s but Saric appears to be superior in terms of ballhandling. Gallinari is an awesome iso scorer when he's healthy. You should check out his stats out of isos. He has/had sick handles but can't create for others. I think Saric will be more special than any of these 3.

I disagree about Turkoglu in his prime he was the a point forward. Hedo was a great playmaker.

I said he had playmaking skills. But he wasn't a great ballhandler as far as I remember. He had very good size for a 3 and the Dwight Pick and Roll with 3 other shooters around him allowed him to make good plays. Saric can drive the lane, make kick outs, drop and lob passes.

I trust Lindsey at this point. If he believes that it's worth it to trade Kanter for Saric then I'm good with it.

I really like Kanter though.
