Following potential 2014 draftees

Agree with White Chocolate with the future first... and I think we could get it.
next year's top 5 protected first, this year's 6th pick, and Meeks.

We take Vonleh at 6
Add Meeks
take either Early or Payne at 23

Now we have lots of length and shooting.
fix anything else through trades/FA.

So saying we stay at #4 and Lakers say at #6.

There are a ton of options at #6. Vonleh, Randle, Smart, etc.

Meeks adds to the depth at guard, he is underrated, a knockdown shooter.

A top-5 protected pick would do it and like you said they would do it.

I don't think the NBA is stupid enough to give the Lakers the #1 pick especially moving up from #6, but #3 I could see.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only three players the Lakers have under contract are Kobe, Nash, and Sacre.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if this were true.

Nobody gave MCW the time of day last year (except me and a few others here) and Philly took him and ran with it. The same goes with Randle this year. Not saying Randle is the #2 player in the draft, but Randle to me has more fight than Embiid, Parker and Exum COMBINED.

I'm saying it. I hope like hell PKM is wrong. Just awful news, but similar to you, I'm not surprised by it. I'd take Wiggins #1, but if Randle is the better NBA player, I wouldn't even be a little bit surprised.

I wouldn't touch Jabari in the top 7. I'm praying he goes 2 or 3 before the Jazz pick.

Why not? Both Embiid and Oden has/had injury worries going into the Draft... Durant and Jabari are known as scorers who aren't overly athletic....

Huge difference between Parker and Durant. Durant wasn't just known as a scorer, he was a scorer. There is simply no comparison between Durant and Jabari coming out of college. Not only was Durant a legit scorer, but he was a far superior rebounder and he wasn't fat.

I don't know. If philly stayed at 2 and us at 4 and they took Randle, I'd stay at 4 rather than trade and take Parker or embodied.. whoever is there.

Here's another thought, can Philly be convinced that Kanter and the #23 is better than just #2?

If the Jazz could get two top 4 picks I'd give up any one member of the young guys to make it happen.

Agree with this. I think they'll kill to get top 4, actually.

Since we having some fun, I will throw out a hypothetical.

Jazz get #1.

Lakers get #3.

The team at #2 takes Embiid or Randle.

Jazz draft Wiggins, once the team at #2 doesn't pick Parker, the Lakers call up and offer:

Parker and three future 1st-round picks for Wiggins.

We have to say yes to that right?

Including Favors?

Agreed. This is my biggest concern about Jabari. I outlined this extensively 3 days ago.

It is his Samoan Genes I'm most concerned about....

No way they would do that. Unpossible.
They may, however, do Kanter and 23 for their 10. Now maybe we could do some damage.

Have also heard the LAKERS will throw the kitchen sink at whomever gets the #1 spot. They need a new young future superstar and are convinced Wiggins is 'next.'

Again, like was brought up in the Love trade thread, what can the Lakers offer?

They traded away most of their picks and a sad run at the playoffs and have used up way too much cap space on an old Kobe.

Not sure I would.

I'd be worried even if he weren't a poly, but since he is half poly (actually, Tongan, IIRC), I agree the concern doubles. There is a reason polys are great athletes as little kids, still pretty dominant in HS football (by HS they are already generally too fat to play basketball), start to thin out in college and you see very, very, few - other than the fat positions like D-line and O-line - in the pros. When they get old, they get fat. Period.

Doesn't mean Jabari has no hope, but I, for one, don't want him. Not to mention, I'm just not that impressed with his game.

No, I wouldn't do that. I'm convinced, like the Lakers are, that Wiggins is the next big NBA superstar.
