What's new

Greg Monroe

Lol Wes.

Monroe is a quality big who will def get paid more than Favors money this off season.

I would rather have Favors, but to completely dog Monroe is dumb.

QuinSnydersHair is Serpico/KEK/Wes Mantooth, etc then? Because I was thinking it probably was.

Yeah, the Jazz haven't done that at all in recent years.

The Jazz had 23-year old RFAs that have been widely considered a candidate for a max deal since their rookie year and let them walk for nothing? When?

I'm going to stop trying to keep up in this sarcasm war. What you're talking about almost never happens. OJ Mayo is the closest thing that comes to mind and the Grizzlies had him on the block for years leading up to not offering the QO.

It's not a matter of if he will get paid. I never said he wouldn't and obviously, based on history, some team will be foolish enough to pay him somewhere between 9-15M per. I just don't want to be that team. His glaring holes are killers.

I think you're basing most all of this off of how Monroe was evaluated pre draft.

He is a good player.

Greg Monroe is a player I know alot about tbh, watched him since HS in Louisiana when he was ESPN's #1 recruit and ive been following his impending free agency throughout the season.

Its going to take a max contract for the Jazz to land him, nothing less will do.

Detroit would definitely match a lower offer, Theres going to be a bidding war over Monroe, for sure, The Lakers are rumored to be ready to offer him a Max Deal...

But yeah I Agree with this thread, he'd be a great target to replace Favors.

His agent is definitely going to get away with saying his Rebounds would have been higher if not for Andre Drummond patrolling the upper atmosphere.

13 mil a year minimum, but it might end up a big winner for the Jazz, Favors is better defensively, Monroe is much more trustworthy on offense though, you can almost run an offense thru him tbh, with Trey and Hayward, Burks off the bench, the offense could gel nicely, The draftpick should help too.

If Gobert were to ever develop into a 30MPG starter, Monroe would be an excellent compliment.

I'm really not. I get the LP and have watched enough games to see he's just not very passionate or skilled on defense.

Side note too. This all started because Numb made it sound as if the Pistons were in love with him. They're not and they've made that abundantly clear since SVG signed. Their GM and SVG stay in constant contact with Monroe and his agent, David Falk, about possible S&T's.

I started this? I made it sound as if the Pistons were in love with him (matching an offer sheet is being in love with a player)? And you didn't start it by coming in with guns blazing saying "GREG MONROE IS THE WORST PLAYER EVER AND DETROIT IS DYING TO GET RID OF HIM".

What is his range on his jumper?

The Pistons are just posturing, trying not to pay him the Max. They will most likely match any realistic offer sheets, I doubt they let him walk.

paging Mr. Colton...need assistance here.

Being in love with a player is when we will have to "pry him away from Detroit," yes.

I'm simply baffled by people's infatuation here with the kid. I'm dead serious. You guys aren't scared off by his awful defense after having to endure Boozer, Kanter, and Memo for years?

I'm genuinely asking. I feel like some of you (because this is what my attraction would be) want him because of his passing game, with the hope that we could recreate what the Spurs have done and I get that. It's appealing to me too. As is his pairing with Favors. But at 12-15M, ugh, I just couldn't stomach that. What am I missing that we should offer a guy, say, 13M who plays awful interior defense?

Does anyone know if Quin Snyder has any connection with Greg Monroe, i.e. tried to recruit him, scouted him, etc.?
