Jazz Pre-Draft Camps and Workouts

Any update on the Perrin comment re: future workouts scheduled for the Jazz?
Would be interesting to know if they're bringing in guys projected to go late 1st.

I've been watching all week, and finally today Hoopshyhpe shows the Jazz working out Jeremy Evans on Saturday. Evans is 6-9, 190 lbs Senior from western kentucky, he averaged 10pts and 6 rebounds. He works out for the spurs on Friday, and the Jazz Saturday. I have to believe that there will be other players invited, the Jazz have made it known that they like to run thier workouts with 6 players.

Perrin clearly said two workouts and the question and his answer were about the 1st round pick, he seemed to indicate that there would be lottery talent involed so maybe ed davis? I can't think of who else might be considered at 9--Orton maybe?

Orton has canceled all of his upcoming workouts. The rumor is that OKC has given a guarantee.

In the end, I think all this talk about moving up/down will be just that: talk.
KOC will say they looked at all possibilities, but nothing came up that would have made the team better, and they'll take the safest pick possible at #9: Aldrich if he's available or Hayward/Babbitt.

I have no problems with any of that. I wouldn't give up too much to move up to 5th or 6th just to get a player who may or may not be better than someone available at 9. I think the talent from 5-12 is very level. Hell, I'm not even sure #4 (Wes Johnson) is that far removed. Right now, there is a top 2, a #3, and then a drop-off.

Unless Monroe falls to 9 we need to let him go.
He doesn't help our defense anyways.
I can see how it would be hard to pass up him at 9, but since he won't be there let's get our defensive big!

I'm officially off the Monroe bandwagon, and firmly on the Udoh and Aldrich train.
For once I agree with Greg Miller. When asked what the Jazz needed most in the draft the first thing he said was to get tougher.
Babbitt and Monroe are nice offensive players, but do not help this team out on defense. Unless that Jazz are going to trade for a C going
after the two soft PFs doesn't make that much sense. Plus they will take a few years to work out the kinks.

Udoh or Aldrich are begging to be picked. Please don't blow it Jazz.
Adding those two also making resigning Boozer more feasible.
We get rid of AK's contract in a year. Deron - Wes - CJ - Boozer/Sap - Aldrich/Monroe is a contending lineup.

Its tough to want to pay Boozer a lot to stay. ESPN has an article about Booze's free agency out today. He was actually a -2 for the season. His defense is that bad. AK I bet is in the positive range and also since his contract expires it will give us more flexibility next year. But I certainly would not be upset if we picked Udoh, Monroe or Aldrich.

That lineup would contend for 40 wins. CJ is one of the worse starting wings in the league. Wes is passable, nothing special. Aldrich is a smaller, poor mans Pryzbilla.

40 wins? lol
Not even close.
It may not be enough to win the West, but that's a more balanced line up that we had last year. Wes > Brewer, Cole > Memo on defense.
"CJ is one of the worse starting wings in the league." He improved last year. If you can't see that then that's your problem.
"Aldrich is a smaller, poor mans Pryzbilla." Yawn.
Most people at least compare him to Pryz. He'll offer better defense than Memo, and would make our interior tougher.
Babbitt can guard who again? 4's will eat him alive.

Keep sweating Babbitt's test scores, and ignore the game film or draft sites who based their reports on actual game play.

I love Ed Davis and I pray the Jazz don't let him slide past them if he's there.

Why do you love him? What are his positives? Negatives? What could we expect out of him? Is there anyone in the NBA that you could compare him to? I don't remember seeing him very much in college. But then again, I haven't seen many of the players in this year's draft...
