Rodney Hood:: Ceiling and Floor

We just saw what Rodney could when he is hitting the outside shot.

What is his ceiling and floor?

Ceiling: Rashard Lewis (in his prime)

Floor: Martell Webster

May get blasted for this but Hood reminds me more so of

Ceiling - Ray Allen (Bucks) - high energy & always moving, catch and shoot, occasionally take it to the hole, 3 point shooter
Floor - Chucker J Miles

He'd be great if he could develop a mid-range game like Glenn Robinson (from the 90s).

Hood's mid-range game is probably more advanced than his 3 point game tbh (relative to league averages). His entire Freshman year consisted of 15-18ft pull ups.

So, I don't have a problem with people talking about this. But aren't ceiling and floor arguments kind of weird?

Like the day after Kobe was drafted and if LA radio host had a guest to talk about the draft, and he said "what is the absolute best this kid can be?" The dude STILL wouldn't say "well top 5 all time of course." He wouldn't even say HOF'er. So his actual production turned out to be waaaaaay better than anyone would have possibly dreamed.

On the other side, Hasheem Thabeet "well at the absolute worse, he will be a tall guy who can affect some shots." No the absolute worst for everyone is to never set foot on the floor of a real NBA game.

The real ceiling for Exum: greatest player ever. Floor: doesn't make it to opening night.
Hood ceiling: greatest shooter ever, and averages the most PPG of all time. Floor: doesn't make it to opening night.
