2014 College Football

I hope it stays at 4. If teams want a chance to win it all, then they should be one of the best 4 teams during the season.
How do you know who the best 4 Teams are?

Maybe the 5th team (the one not in the playoffs) is the best team

it forces BYU and it fans to deal with reality.

My god you are slow.

Every byu fan understands that byu would struggle if they were in the big 12.

I don't know why you can't understand that.

The same way one knows the 8 best teams. Maybe the ninth team is the best team.
Agreed.
Quick question though..... do you think having 8 Teams is more likely to get the best team in the playoffs, or just 4 is more likely?

8 Teams would not be perfect and would not assure that the best team in the country gets in....... it would just be better than 4 team playoff, which is kinda why most of us would prefer it.

You might as well quit trying.
Ya I know.

I also found it funny when he complained a few days ago about byu fans being excited for an undefeated season (putting the cart before the horse... counting our chickens before they hatch).

Then he starts proclaiming kendall thompson to be the next dak prescott after about 2 quarters of football, and then talks about the utes great season this year after a 1-1 conference record.

And green proclaiming travis wilson to be the 2nd rated passer in the country and a nfl caliber qb who is better than taysom hill..... after 2 games (idaho state and fresno)

Nothing wrong with that btw imo...... fans are supposed to be excited about thier team and over-estimate how good thier players/team are.
But it's lame that jazzman acts like it's only byu fans who do

Gotta love green. Travis Wilson is better than a Heisman candidate, but can't start for his own team.

Either way there's always one winner. The best team can always be subjective anyway, regardless of the postseason format. An eight team playoff would be fun, but it starts to get into the too many games category, personally, especially for unpaid players expected to collide with each other at full speed.

That's a good reason not to go to eight.

But thats really the only good reason.

Maybe have the regular season shortened by a game..... or shorten fall camp practice length or something

Shortening the regular season also shortens the body of work the committee has to judge and could create even more unbalanced schedules within the larger conferences.

Yep, there is no perfect situation.

Most people just think 8 Teams is preferable to 4 is all. No big deal

Lol, Thompson will NEVER be Prescott. That was a tongue-in-cheek shout out to Cy. Maybe you don't get sarcasm, or maybe I didn't spell it out clearly enough for you're liking, but ya, I'm the slow one.

And as far as my remarks about BYU fans who don't think playing a P5 schedule is grueling, go back to the early pages of this thread and re-read the posts by some BYU fans (not you) who were trying to use SOS #'s to infer the fact that it's not that big of a deal. Also try to understand the fact that my interactions with BYU fans are not limited to just this board. Sure, there's you and a few other BYU fans on this board in touch with reality, but that doesn't mean your the only fans I converse with.

I hope that helps.

I guess you didn't understand my point.

You always talk about byu fans as being unrealistic and delusional....... which some of them definitely are (and I have admitted to many times)

Thing is, all teams have some delusional and unrealistic fans..... including utah.

That's why I find it haterish and lame that you always single out byu fans.

I understand that it's a rivalry so that's why you do it. Just understand that if you take away your bias, byu fans are no different than any other teams fans when it comes to being homers. We all do it

Too many games for the teams who win.

With an 8 team playoff, is it really too many games for the teams who win?

On the surface, I agree with that argument, but the FCS playoffs had 20 teams in it up until 2013 when they expanded to 24. These are also unpaid student athletes who play 12 regular season games on top of a much larger playoff than what we're talking about.

Year after year, they tend to pull it off no problem. I see no reason as to why the big boys can't do the same thing.

Everything you are saying is logical. My perspective is, while all teams have unrealistic fans, I believe BYU has a crazy amount more than the other teams in the state. Now, that's just my opinion, and I will fully admit that there are still thousands upon thousands of reasonable BYU fans. I might be right, I might be wrong, but I'm gonna stick by that opinion.

Good response.

byu has far and away the most incredibly ridiculous sports fans I have ever met. It is not close whatsoever.

Legit can't wait for the Heisman and National Championship talk to start up again next year! Or has it already started??

@fishon instead of defending byu fans it's prolly just time for you to admit you don't fit in with them lol.

Fishon is the coolest byu fan I've ever met tbh
