Which Holidays Are Good And Which Are Bad?

Yesterday I was told that I am a bad person because I enjoyed my day off on Columbus Day. That I was selfish for enjoying it on a day dedicted to a mass murdering slaver.

Then today I was informed that we should have the same opinion of Pioneer day on 07/24.

So guys, and those prentending to be girls, I need some help...

What holidays am I allowed to like and which ones should I hate? Why should I hate them?

Is Easter OK or is it celebrating animal abuse? Can I celebrate St. Patrick's Day or does that make me support alcoholism? Christmas? 4th of July?

********. Should the Native Americans feel guilty about the behavior of the Aztecs? I'm ethnically an Arab, should I feel ashamed about the existence of ISIS? I am confused about this mystical connection across time and space that only applies to people with European ancestry. How does it actually work?
 
If you get the day off or get holiday pay for the day, feel good. If not, then is it even a real holiday?

Columbus's journey played a significant role in Human history and especially here in the Americas. You can take the bad from it, of which there is plenty, or you can use it as an example of humanities undying spirit of exploration and discovery.
 
I think if you try hard enough you can tie everything back to something bad. What needs to happen is we need to focus on the good that ultimately came from the situations that prompted the holiday in the first place. If we cannot see the good because we are so focused on the bad then life just wouldn't be worth living.
 
Lol, at the usual suspects trying to read to much into things. Not that it surprises me.

You know the best thing about being you is that you get to decide what you do and not, what you celebrate and what you scrutinize. It's YOUR choice!
 
Like the ones where you're supposed to eat lots of tasty and unhealthy food

Any that require fasting are best celebrated between the hours of 1AM and 5AM.
 
To me it comes down to three questions: do I have the day off and are banks and liquor stores closed? If the answer is yes to all three, it's a good holiday, but I need to plan the cash and adult beverage stockpile accordingly.
 
If they wanna give us a day off, then they can name it Charles Manson day for all I care. But yeah, Columbus was a piece of **** in terms of being a human being. Definitely not someone I would choose to honor in any way, but like I said, if you give me the day off, call it whatever you want. I won't be honoring Columbus either way.

I had it off but didn't know it was Columbus day till I was told how horrible I was for enjoying my day.
Apparently he is to blame for the entire subjugation of all native Americans.

He sure is the figurehead for the entire subjugation of all Native Americans. I'd have difficulty celebrating a holiday for the guy that's kind of responsible for killing my ancestors.

Also not sure why we Americans have it as a holiday since he never set foot on any part of soil that is now or ever was the U.S.
