What's new

The official Lakers_Slapper, game thread predictions VS. The Lakers.

I just don't see a place for Motum or Cooley. We have enough bigs already. It's sad, though, they both deserve to be on a NBA team.

If it's one or the other I'd rather have Cooley just for his rebounding. I agree they're both NBA players though. Burke, Burks, Hayward, Favors, Kanter, Exum, Hood, Gobert, Evans, Novak, Booker, Felix, Murry, Cooley.... with Quin at the helm - SIGN ME THE **** UP!!!!

Not if they are planning a possible Kanter trade.

Who or what could we trade Kanter for that would improve the team? Draft picks? We have a lot of them already. With the emergence of Gobert, we just need Kanter to be a very good bench big, which is completely doable.

Gobert has been arguably the greatest surprise so far (dating back to FIBAs) but we should temper our expectations a touch with him. I still think he's best off the bench while he continues to polish and learn the game. He is VASTLY improved from last year, but still nowhere near what he can be. Perhaps in a couple years if Kanter hasn't improved then they'll switch roles, but Gobert would be plagued by foul trouble if he started this season I bet. However, if he's doing his typical Rudy things we've seen this preseason I'm sure Quin will keep him in during money time so whether he starts or not would be effectively meaningless. I hope we keep both he and Kanter, and they both continue to make strides forward in terms of consistency and feel for their positions.

Trade Kanter for anything if we don't plan on re-signing him.

If they aren't planning on matching anything over, say 8 mill a year, it makes sense to trade him. Some team needing a big will take a gamble for that.
I think the Jazz would look for a vet on a good 3 year contract to help soften the pain of the upcoming new TV deal.

Fun stat. Rudy Gobert assists this game = 2, Rudy Gobert assists in preseason = 4, Rudy Gobert assists all last year = 7.

Does Favors have the range to play PF with Gobert at C?

Still think the best option is to have Derrick start and Gobert come off the bench. If Rudy plays 25 mins, that means Derrick only needs to play about 7 at PF to get his 30. As for PF, I'm loving me some Booker right now.

But yeah, who can we trade Kanter for? Maybe with him being on a rookie contract a contender would be able to afford him for expirings and their late 1st. Lindsey has done pretty well drafting in the 20's the last two years.

I just don't see who we could logically trade Kanter as an expiring for this year that would crack the two deep. I'd almost rather just trade him for cap by letting him go than tying us down to a mediocre vet on a contract.

Maybe Al Horford? If Atlanta doesn't want him after his injury?

Perkins + the 2017 1st rounder unprotected for Kanter. It would obviously be a huge gamble, but if Durant leaves in 2016, it could be a very nice pick up for us if we decide that Kanter is not part of our future.

Kanter has not shown me he can play the stretch 4 at all. I mean I am still ok with a small deal and have him come off the bench, but he would not sign on for that. I am sure someone else will take a chance on him and pay him. I though we should have tried to move him last year, probably to late to get a decent return now.

Snyder is gonna make an amazing crazy-looking-mad-scientist-genius old man in 20 years.

I'm thinking a cross between Anthony Perkins and Jack Nicholson. He could definitely star in a remake of "Psycho" or make a convincing patient in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."
