What's new

calling it now: Kanter will be traded, and Burke will be in the deal

Only okay with this if we get rondo

Jalen Rose seems to think that Rondo will end up on the Knicks. I guess the deal has been a close a couple of times. I can't imagine Rondo would be happy if he suddenly got re-routed to SLC.

If I were Rondo, id prefer Utah. Go to a city with a good fanbase, less cruel media, and to a team with a plethora of really good role players awaiting their alpha?

Or go to the Knicks, trying to gel with two of the biggest chucking knuckleheads in pro sports?

Obviously you gotta factor in city appeal-- but I think Utah is much more ideal for Rondo's career than playing 2nd fiddle in Boston. He could average like 14/12/6/2 here. Trying not to be homeristic.

Also, during trade rumours last year, PKM said that Rondo replied "wouldn't mind, as long as they play hard" if he got traded for Utah. Not sure how much stalk you put into PKM's input, but I figured I'd throw it in

Don't get me wrong, Rondo would be ****ing ideal. We need every one of his positive attributes in the worst way.

Still, when you add city appeal + the fact that he could walk away at year's end......... big risk.

I think Burke stays through the end of the first season, unless Exum shows he's ready early. If we decide we want to tank though, putting a 19 year-old PG out there might be part of that formula.

I agree with OP that Burke and Kanter aren't fitting. I could see Kanter as a super-sub, but he's not going to get the $$$ he wants in that situation.

Here's what I think the best-scenario future of the Jazz will be, given their existing players:

PG: Exum/Neto
SG: Burks
SF: Hayward/Hood
PF: Favors
C: Gobert

Burke and Kanter get moved or leave in free agency. The Jazz still really need a first-option scorer and will try to draft that player, but they have decent, if not prototypical talent at every position and can go after BPA at any position 2 - 5.

If we trade Burke, that doesn't require Exum's roll changes... even if we don't get a PG back. Duh.

I guess I am confused... Who would be our starter at PG?

when has Snyder ever referred to a "point guard" in his system?

Don't know... but you understand what I'm asking right... who starts and handles the ball and initiates the offense like... you know... a point guard.

Is that AB, and Gordo primarily? I think we could go point guardless for stretches, but to have your only PG be Dante may not be the best idea. I really don't like Alec in that role... I want him attacking. Don't know if Gordo has that kind of ball handling ability full time.

Ultimately it would come down to what we got in the trade. I'd want a really good return for Burke.

I'd rather let Kanter walk, keep Burke with his rookie deal (he is a bargain). Sign Millsap during the offseason and Draft Towns or Porzingis:

C: Favors/Gobert
PF: Millsap/Karl Towns (or Porzingis)
SF: Hayward
SG: Burks/Hood
PG: Burke/Exum

2 birds with one stone.

If we didn't just sign our SG and SF spots for 40million and 63 million that might be a good draft choice... I really like Stanley Johnson, but it's really hard to find yet another place for a young wing on our roster having in mind we have Hood who we need to develop and Exum who needs to play at some point(i.e. Burks playing PG in the long term is not good option). I still think we need to select a big(stretch 4? or crafty 5) in the next draft.

Overreacting is such a weak way for people to respond.

It's been two whole games. There's 80 count em' 80 more games in the season.

This is a **** idea until you include 2-3 more players and draft picks that will net a super star. And worthless if Exum doesn't become one.

fine. do it.

Let's see your proposal.

fwiw, I'd be happy to turn those two nickels into a dime..... before they become less.

You lost me when you said Burke. Kanter might be traded, but I really don't want him to. We won't get any value for him now. Might as well keep him for as long as possible, and see if he makes a leap.

I can't see who we'll be getting in the deal, but we're sending those two guys out together.

I'll bump this after it comes true.

How about Rondo and Olynk for Kanter and Burke + a first round pick? I know Boston wouldn't do it but a guy can dream. I don't want to trade Burke right now but

how long are we gonna keep saying "we won't get value for Enes..."? Should we keep saying that while his real value continues to fall?

No way that will happen! Kanter is a defensive burden and an undersized PG doesn't make this deal better in fact it makes it worse!!Trey Burke is maybe the PG - Version of Enes? A little bit undersized and not athletic enough.

No GM would do this trade in a straight way maybe in a three team-deal...

I think burks has some value. Kanter probably can get a mid to late round first. That would be fine. Okc might do it. Maybe a better team that could plug him into a role where he could be big al life for 15 minutes a game.
