Game #27 Utah Jazz at Jernigan Magic, 5 pm mtn

That sprite center court sleepover seems like the worst thing ever. Who wants to sleep on a basketball court with a bunch of dudes. What about when they all wake up with morning wood? Terrible.

Best part of the game: Joe Ingles didn't play in the 2nd half. THe faster Hood steps his game up, the less of a need there is for Ingles to ever play.

Ingles only got 3 minutes :)

man, we have some good potential on this team right now. So fun to see them growing

imagine this team when Hood and Exum have come on a bit ...
great win despite all our guards playing like idiot savants ..

The Jazz could really use a dedicated knock-down shooter. It's just such a luxury when guys like Hayward and Kanter can run an action and a shooter like Ray Allen, Klay Thompson or Kyle Korver just curls around and scores with a quick release. That's what the Jazz are missing, that guy who can just rise up at any time and knock down a jumper. Then a few of their plays would be just about unguardable. As it is now, a long jumper from most of our guys is considered a bad shot.

I'll be interested to see what the Jazz front office does here. A few more wins like this and we'll slip to 9th in the draft lottery. Our next game is against Charlotte.

Kanter needs to learn how to be more aware of open shooters though. Numerous times he has wide open players for corner 3's once he get hit in the high post off a PNR. Favors has been a lot more aware of this action this year, actually surveying the floor before/after he gets the ball, but Kanter is still largely oblivious to his teammates off- ball positioning.

Furthering on this, Kanter has a lot of potential as a drive and kick player out of the high post with his 1 dribble pump-fake he has been employing. Once defense starts honing in on this, he can 1 dribble drive into wide open kick outs to corner 3 shooters. This may never be a reality for Kanter since he is a naturally good passer, but the play is available.

I don't know if somebody pointed out that already, but I think Dante, Trey, Alec and Rodney need to get props in today's game for their job on Oladipo. I didn't realize it during the game, but Oladipo finished with 2 points on 1/6 shooting in 32:18 mins of play. Dante spurred it all in the first Q, when he stripped him in one possession and intercepted his pass on the very next possession. It didn't seem like he got it going for the rest of the game.

Oladipio sucks. That draft freaking blew.

I just realized that Ingles did not play. Is he hurt? I would rather see Hood get most of his minutes.

Burke is so bad around the rim, just awful. Sometimes it works because his missed shots almost act as passes.

LOL!
I was actually thinking the same thing a couple of times in the game. Another stellar shooting performance (5-15). Sorry, but the Burke homers cannot continue to blame it on having to launch up contested shots to beat the clock.

Just imagine how good Utah could be if we switched PG's with any other team in the league!

Still, him driving to the rim is always a positive, even when he misses since we have very good offensive rebounding big men.

Surely he does not suck. He's a second year player averaging 15, 4 and 3 on 46% shooting. Nothing mind blowing, but he's a decent young player.
