Got to go down on the field with a friends field pass for a while. Fun Game!!

Nice! My brother and I were there too. Easy win and a nice way to finish the season off.

Well byu only recruits hard core thugs so what did you expect to happen?

Nice BYU not only loses to a non P5 team that was worse than Colorado state, then they show the class and sportsmanship of that particular team by getting in a fight afterwards. Absolutely hilarious and pathetic.

I'm not a BYU fan at all, but Memphis clearly started and escalated the fight. Should the Cougar players just continue to let 4 Memphis players wail on their guy? The one Memphis player who was swinging his helmet shows you just how ridiculous it is for people to pretend that BYU was at fault. The sucker punch by #12 was pretty cheap, but I'd like to see what happened right before that. The BYU player was already bloodied and looked to be retaliating, albeit at a point that he should have just walked away. Basing judgements on vines is stupid, because they only show the most inflammatory moments instead of everything that happened.

Non of the video I've seen shows the start of the fight. Why would the team who won start a fight? What was one BYU player even doing around 4 opponents that were more likely than celebrating. Also I'm not condoning what Memphis did. But when fights like that start they are mutual. 4 guys don't just start wailing on some random guy without words said. Generally speaking in after game fights my 1st instinct is to blame the losing team. Without definite evidence I'm still going to lean that way.

Right after the game ended a Memphis player punched a byu player from behind and then a couple other guys jumped in. That is what started it.
But your mind is made up. It's all good

Not actually what happened. Video showed that a byu player pushed a Memphis dude, then the Memphis dude escalated it by face pushing the byu dude.

More importantly...

ROFLcopter @ byu losing to the following teams in one season...

Utah State

UCF
Boise St
Memphis

Like, not only did they play 5 games against that caliber of opponent, they actually lost to them.

Mind not made up. But without contradictory evidence the verdict would go against the guys with a motive. And the winner of the game has no motive.

Dude two memphis players attacked a BYU player from behind. That is what started it. Go watch the video.

Why would Memphis do it after winning?

1-Douchebags gunna douche

2-A little attention for a nobody school

Watch the video again. You can clearly see a Memphis player offscreen push BYU #56 from behind and into Memphis #97. BYU player turns around to see who pushed him and #97 rounds off and hits #56 in the head with both hands. That's what set it off, and the fracus ensued accordingly. That was also part of the group that had 4 Memphis players (including the dude swinging his helmet). It's impossible to tell what the intent of the first Memphis player is - could have been intentional, or an accident while celebrating - but the BYU player was not the one who started it.

As for motivation. . . these are highly agitated young men, who just participated in a hard-fought, physical and chippy game. Some dudes just like to fight. It doesn't take much to set them off. The cheap shot by BYU #12 was cheap, but it's not like BYU was itching to fight and jumped the Memphis players for fun. Memphis started it, and escalated it, and BYU responded in kind.

You're assuming that they need a motive. Some kids just like to fight. If there's not a reason, they'll make one up. Emotions were high, and all it took was a Memphis player pushing a BYU player into another Memphis player for things to escalate. The video pretty well shows that the BYU player didn't deliberately run into the Memphis player.

Regarding the fight (which is what we were discussing), like broncs, you are going to see what you want to see. Read hey heys post (a ute fan btw..... One of the most fair and reasonable ute fans.) And ellis post (not a byu fan) and archies post (another ute fan who also makes fun of byu losing to Memphis)
Also listen to the announcers of the game in the video.

As for byu's record/season...... I, and pretty much every byu, would agree with you that it was a disappointing season filled with lame games/opponents, and devastating injuries.
I'm glad it's over.

Congrats on a great season by the utes btw

Mind seems to be made up. (You have already decided that byu had motive and therefore is guilty)

Like I said though, it's all good. I'm ok with you feeling that way

lol @ Ute fans for thinking the same thing hasn't/couldn't/wouldn't happen to them. It's not like they don't charge the field and get in the face of the head coach only to run away scared when said coach turns around.
But then again, these are the same fans that are "completely over the rivalry". I guess I should have expected as much.

Everyone saw #12 Nacua cheapshot a Memphis player that was being held back. Nacua turned and ran with his face bloodied and we thought all thought "oh wow, probably justified". I'm not so sure about that anymore. He definitely seemed like an instigator here (sucker punch #1 of 2) and he paid the price. Wait for it....

Good thoughts, man. Those teams are a combined 47-12 this year. Washington State almost lost as many games by themselves. Way to make a terrible point terribly. But, P5 baby! Pac USC + 11, baby! USC has won a bunch of National titles.....so we're special by association! Go Utes!
