What's new

Prediction: Jazz trade Kanter for Otto Porter

If you're talking about the soap opera effect you get when you watch movies on a new TV (and I have no idea why I'm assuming you are), then that can be easily changed by either disabling motion smoothing feature through the menu, or using a preset like "movies mode" or "cinema" or whatever the equivalent for your TV is.

That's exactly what I'm saying...

So my next tv should be 4k

4k is legit.

Basically every movie or tv show you've ever seen that wasn't shot on actual film was shot at 4k or higher. So watching something shot at 4k on a 4k monitor only makes sense. It'll be the norm in several years.

But it's true that the human eye can detect the difference in resolution less and less the higher up you go. Most professionals think that anything after 5k isn't detectable (although, things are still shot at 8k today for other reasons, but 8k monitors will probably never be a thing... it'll just stop at 4k most likely).

The human ear can't distinguish between 16 bit, 24 bit and 32 bit music, between 44KHz and 96KHz and 192KHz yet there are series of businesses making money off of marketing HD-music and HD-music running hardware. If the marketing can convince the people that the 8K is the new super-duper-ultra-mega cool stuff and you are sub-human if you don't own it, you can bet your *** that they will make 8K TVs and market it and sell it as the new bee's knees sooner or later.

48% shooting from the floor and 37% from deep is ****ty? OK.

In 37 minutes vs. the Bucks he scored 21 points and got 5 rebounds. Just needs minutes.

At 5 pts per 20 minutes he's almost as good offensively as Gobert. He doesn't really rebound, pass, or defend well. So ya, real ****ty. I would rather Jazz spend their money on someone less ****ty.

I could see us trading Booker for him. If he's useless to them and they need a solid big for a legit playoff run, I could see this. But didn't he come from there?

I liked Otto porter a lot before last years draft. Seems like he hasn't done much to impress anyone. Maybe it's due to minutes or maybe he's just a bust but I wouldn't trade kanter for him

He played behind Ariza his 1st year. Hard to get minutes over one of the best 3 and D guys in the league, especially when Beal is taking a lot of wing minutes too.

This year he is playing behind Pierce as well as split some minutes with Rasual Butler (a lot will laugh at that, but he is shooting over 50% from 3pt land, he is their specialist.)

Jazz trade for Porter cuz he is a monster mammoth beast.

Washington trades for Kanter cuz Nene has fallen off.

5.8 points per 19 minutes.

He is over 6 ppg in 20 minutes.

I can usually tell the difference between 16 and 24 bit, and 44 and 96 kHz, but you're basically right.

Cy is correct here. Porter is a good player. It's just circumstances. He isn't getting any minutes, and isn't getting a chance to contribute much.

He is only 21.

It's a trade that makes sense because we could use another wing, and Gobert is gonna have to be a starter one day.

I don't how people can come to the conclusion that players like Otto are busts. If the player isn't playing for some reason then everyone assumes they are no good. It's not true. Look at Tobias Harris. He was written off, then when given his chance he proved he can play.

There are a bunch of guys in the league who are better than their playing time suggests. You gotta be smarter than that.

We could trade for porter who is on a nice rookie deal, then sign Draymond Green to a big deal if we had to.

What would you rather have?

Draymond Green and Otto Porter or Enes Kanter?

So who gets benched to make Green a starter? Favors?
Personally, I'd rather trade Kanter for a backup 4 and a pick, then make a huge offer to Wesley Matthews. With Burks under contract, I think he could be persuaded to come off the bench (if he's still getting 30 mins/per).

Can't Draymond play some small forward? I'm pretty sure he can. You could mix and match lineups and still get Favors, Gobert, and Green a lot of minutes.

Draymond can guard small forwards and hit the 3. We could have a very good defensive front court.

Due to his his size, I think SF would best suit Draymond. But that means moving Hayward to SG. Not sure I like that. KOC wanted GH to be a big SG. He said as much when he talked about his strategy of drafting players who would create mismatches. I'd hesitate to move him back to SG, where he really struggled last season.

In principle, though, I like the idea of getting young starters who still have upside and can grow with the team. I'm not 100% sold on Kanter...yet. But if he can continue to develop as a 4/5, Utah could potentially have an amazing, dominating trio of bigs. Have to think hard before giving up on Enes.
