Russell had 14 rebounds today?

The ****

He's a baller! He does so much. Scores, rebounds, passes. He fills the boxscore. I love his offensive game... if he manages to improve his defensive habits, he will be a real monster.

An article discussing Johnson and Mudiay:

https://www.postingandtoasting.com/2015/1/16/7519183/talkin-prospects-stanley-johnson-and-emmanuel-mudiay

"I think the popular thing to say here is LeBron based purely on his physical stature, and his well-rounded offensive game. Now I'm not saying he's LeBron James. But I am saying he's a freshman in college that is listed at 6-7, 245, and can play anywhere from shooting guard to power forward at any given time on either end of the floor. I've seen a lot of Kawhi Leonard or even Ron Artest tossed around as well. I think he's a little better offensively than those guys are and were, though. I watched Kawhi a lot when he was at San Diego State, and Stanley is a better player all-around at this point than Kawhi was. Physically, he's unlike anything that we've seen in Tucson before. Again, I think it all comes down to him staying in games mentally, and I think with time, he'll develop that killer instinct and be a force to be reckoned with in the league at some point."

Stanley sounds real nice. He's been sliding up while Winslow been sliding down. Making me re-evaluate my stance. Winslow really would benefit from another year in college.

Russel seems to be quite impressive. Him and Exum would be long, but really lanky. Could be a concern that a bigger guard would dominate either one of them. Johnson's defense really puts him ahead IMO.

I think people look at Porzingis' block numbers and assume he's a good defender, but from what very little I've seen, I haven't seen much to indicate that he is a plus defender.

Could Young Russ' be a mix of Curry and Harden? Or be more like Jeremy Lamb (with more passing skills)? Oh the possibilities.

A little update on Vezenkov. Last week he played against Olympiakos. Scored 14(6/13 FG) 3rbs, 1ast, 1bl, 2 steals in 26 mins. This week he went off for 23 pts(11 in the 4th Q, 10/21 FG), 8rbs, 1 ast, 2 st, 1 bl. He seems to be in kind of a shooting slump and has hit only 1 of his last 9 3Ps. It's good to see that he affects games even when his shot is not falling.

He's shooting 52% for the season and even after his recent 3P shooting slump is still at 41% for the season.

Averages at the half-point of the season: 32MPG, 18.2PPG, 7.8RPG, 1.5 APG, 0.4BPG, 1.1SPG, 1.6 TO

His usage is pretty high for a 19 year old too - 23.6%... which is... almost as high as Hayward's for Utah...

At the latest DraftExpress mock he was moved by about 10 spots up and is currently at No. 40. I think he'd be a great option for our second round pick.

Jeremy Lamb lacks mental focus. He's kind of a space cadet, tbh. What I like about Russell, aside from his natural ability to shoot and pass, is his feel and IQ. He'd need to get stronger and become more explosive to compare to Harden, even as a college player. He really seems to be patterning himself after Curry. I just wonder if he'll be able to compete physically at NBA size and speed.

Guys like Trey Burke and Evan Turner have looked pretty awesome at the college level, only to get overwhelmed in the pros.

Harden uses his body very well and is very athletic. I wouldn't say Russell is as athletic (he admitted himself in an interview that he has to work hard to get there). I would say he's more savvy and skilful like Curry.

What I like is he seems like a fighter to me (I am one too so I can tell).

Here's the interview if you haven't seen it.

Wow! Poeltl almost hit his head on the rim on that dunk! I didn't know he was that athletic! Wow!

So should we start talking about Oubre again?

He has been playing pretty good lately and his shooting % are nice.

I think Oubre is going to be similar in the pros to Rodney Hood, though a bit more athletic and probably a bit better offensively overall. The question is his defense and toughness. I'm not sure if he's a guy who really makes us better or gives us much we don't have.

I'd put him below Johnson, Winslow and Hezonja, at least for the Jazz.

They have a lot of similarities. Oubre will definitely be better defensively than Hood just because his reach is uber insane and he's got more time to grow.
