Paul George anyone ??

I think there's a negative chance Paul George and Jimmy Butler would want to play out the last years of their prime (ish) in Utah.
I think you’re right, but I also think that Ainge wants stars (even if they have baggage) and both guys qualify. It would be up to DA to sell it. As long as the Jazz keep Markkanen, I’m open to just about anybody.

Yeah 2 aging stars starting to wind down rarely equal a franchise player capable of taking anyone to the promised land. Needs to be a bigger splash.

I'm pretty sure the only way to dump Collins would be to give up picks. I'm guessing if we move Clarkson, it wouldn't necessarily be in to somebody's cap space either.
I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of how the salary cap works, but could a potential sign and trade with Collins/Clarkson and some picks work. The Clippers are pretty short on assets, and still in win now mode, so maybe so quality vets and replenishing draft picks is exactly what they are looking for?

It would require some movement. I would rather put my miracle wishes on the chances that the ping pong balls drop in our favor over the next two years. That is a MUCH more likely miracle than PG coming to Utah. If he wants to leave LA then Orlando and Philly are much better spots to win right now. Florida is also sunny and tax free… and Orlando is out of the bright lights. We finish 4th on that list if the money is the same. PG will get max offers for 4 years from LA and Philly… maybe Orlando but they may want to do Klay on a shorter deal instead.

Yeah but the Clippers had plenty of mistakes you can avoid.
So did we. Mistakes can and usually do happen. PG is not a basket we need to carry a bunch of our eggs, not at this point in his career. We'll make a few mistakes along the way, it's inevitable. PG isn't enough to overcome that. Not like a ANT coming into his own as a legit MVP candidate can cover up other mistakes. We still need our Batman before we go break the bank for Robin.

If PG wants to sign you sign him. He is a pretty big asset. How many teams over the years have been a PG away. No reason he can't be effective for a few more years.

Now if we have to unload assets for another old *** player and to create cap room to then sign PG and forego renegotiate and extend on Lauri.... feels like a really short sighted move. Yall are doing 2k on this one.

Why don’t we just lure MJ and Bird out of retirement to wind down their careers here as part of our rebuild? MJ67 anyone?

He's played almost exactly 2/3 of his games as a Clipper (regular season). Not great, not terrible, but he's 34 now. I'd be a bit worried about, say, a 4 year max.
I would be way worried about a 4 year max. Ya that's a no for me dog.
