What's new

Game Thread Mar 21, 2025 07:30PM MT: Boston Celtics @ Utah Jazz

Added to Calendar: 03-21-25

If I were the Jazz, I'd keep both Sexton and John Collins until I'm sure something better is coming down the pike. They're solid players.
Get Flagg and make the playoffs next season would be my goal and I hope (though I doubt) it's the jazz goal too

Where does Cody Williams rank in terms of the worst Utah Jazz lottery pick of all time?

Trey Lyles was really bad because we all wanted Booker, and we all know how that went. But Trey Lyles at least looked like he could hang in the league. Cody Williams might not make it to the end of his rookie contract

Ahead of Luther Wright, Kirk Snyder, Curtis Borchardt, Raul Lopez, and maybe a bit ahead of Udoka Azubuike. The disappointing thing is that he doesn't look like he's gotten much better over the course of the season. He had a stint where his shot was falling, and he's made a move here and there, but there isn't a ton of progress to report on. If he just sat out and worked on his body all day, every day, that might have been better for him.

I remember when Bryon Russell was a rookie, he didn't travel with the team. He worked out and worked with coaches day in and day out.

I'm starting to wonder if Cody even likes basketball, or if it was a situation where he did it because his brother played. There just isn't any passion. He gets hit and doesn't complain. He gets beat and doesn't seem to care much. He just isn't putting much energy into his offense. It's like he's just going through the motions. At Colorado, he had some real spark and made some big plays. There's been almost none of that this year. Even his dunks look lazy.

But Cody is perfect for the tank.

Dude, Cody Williams was a (yes, technically) top-ten pick. He was also taken right in front of about four players that will almost certainly be better than him.

Not all of those guys were lottery picks tho (were any of them? Maybe Curtis and Kirk were late lottery. I know Lopez wasn't and don't think udoka was. No idea on Luther)

I think Cody is the worst Jazz pick of all time tbh (not even considering draft position), at least in terms of his current ability. I think Goran Sutton (worst Jazz pick since Ive been following the draft) might have cooked him 1 on 1.

I think (hope) he gets better though.

11. Bulls draft Matas Buzelis (G League Ignite)

12. Thunder draft Nikola Topic (KK Crvena Zvezda)

13. Kings draft Devin Carter (Providence)

14. Trail Blazers draft Bub Carrington(Pittsburgh) — Traded to Wizards

15. Heat draft Kel’el Ware (Indiana)

16. 76ers draft Jared McCain (Duke)

17. Lakers draft Dalton Knecht(Tennessee)

Yikes.

Dok was pretty bad even though he was #28. I’m still trying to process why he was the pick to this day.

Dok looked decent when he played. He just got injured a lot. He could do what he was supposed to do for the most part.
Ya but he was supposed to be a second and two really good players were on the board that seemed to be the can’t miss guys at that spot at more of a position of need yet we went the guy that wouldn’t get more than 15 min a game seeing we had Gobert. Just seemed like a really bad decision

I said *lottery pick*. Every single player you just named was picked after pick #14.

Thank you for making my point.
