Why is Kessler shooting threes?

If our future success relies on Kessler three point shooting, we might as well forget having any winning seasons.

...when his FT% is at 53%? I looked at all 3-point shooters in the NBA with the 3PT% >34%: there are just a couple of guys with the FT% in the mid-60s and that because they are having an unusually bad year or/and shot very few free throws. They shot way better in previous seasons. I mean, there is absolutely no precedent of a player with the free-throws rate in the 50s who became a serviceable 3-point shooter.

If Walter dreams about becoming a good jump shooter he needs to start with fixing his free throw form first - which, by the way, is a major, major flaw for him right now and limits his ceiling. Is Kessler stupid?
Have you been living under a rock?

I remember a game against us when Rodman played for the Spurs and shot a bunch of threes. I don't remember any going in but his shot wasn't as bad as one would think.

Cause duh, that's why

Yeah, I’m kinda befuddled on what even needs to be said that isn’t glaringly obvious, but I will just underscore the point that basic centers often cannot close games in the playoffs so trying to develop this wrinkle in the best possible situations to develop it could make a major difference for his and the Jazz’s prospects down the line.

Karl Malone was a career 27 % 3pt shooter, taking 0,2 per game. In his later years he never took more than 0,5 per, and the % wasn't improved.

The league has obviously changed, but Kessler has taken more threes in the last 5 games than Malone took in 15 of his 19 seasons.
Yeah, cuz basketball used to be very stupid.

Because it helps the tank, makes Walker happy and proves that he sucks at it. So in future they can tell him "well, you tried it but you shot 13%, so let's focus on other things."

Or he maybe figures it out! But probably not.

I guarantee you within 1 month of locker clean-out day, either Tony or Andy or Walker or Will is going to confirm that Walker and Will had a bet, that if Walker demonstrated dominance in the area Will wanted (or hit some particular metric), Will would run 2-3 3 point plays for him the rest of the season.
