The Bigotry of Elon Musk

There are plenty of things I've enjoyed, but the single biggest is a President finally making good on a vow to enact a diligent audit of federal spending. Every President has said they would, and completing the task was always too daunting. Trump brought in a team for whom the task was not beyond their capability and it is finally getting done.
How do you feel about that being done by the richest man in the world who has an unfathomable conflict of interest with the position?

There was a small town cop who on Fridays around closing time of the local bar would sit across the street waiting and watching to bust someone for drunk driving. The bar closes and the patrons steam out, with one in particular looking completely blitzed. He stumbles around the tiny parking lot seeming not to remember where he parked, then when trying to unlock his car he inadvertently drops his keys. He quickly snatched his keys off the ground hoping no one noticed and realizes that isn't his car. He makes his way three spots over, unlocks the door, gets in, and starts the car. The cop who was watching from across the street pulls the guy over barely 50 yards from the bar and orders the driver to blow into the breathalyzer. It shows zeros. The guy is stone sober. The cop says he watched the guy stumble around the parking lot to which the guy responds "I'm the designated decoy".

Amy Gleason is the head of DOGE, and the wunderkinds using AI tools to comb through the data don't include Elon. He is just the guy making a public spectacle of stumbling around the parking lot so the team can do what they need to do.

I don’t think that even you really believe this.

I know the eyeroll icon was supposed to convey a different message, but literally it appears like you are looking up at the fact in the post above and are shocked it doesn't read "Elon Musk".

Surprised that you might actually believe Musk isn’t calling shots at DOGE and has no influence in what they do, I guess.

But I still don’t really think that you believe that.

The cult members are required to believe any and all conspiracies the right puts out, and required to disbelieve anything they can in any way attribute to a conspiracy put out by the left. That is cult-ism 101.

I believe Elon Musk is one guy who also runs Twitter, SpaceX, and has a hand in the running of Tesla. I believe that in the early days, Elon was very involved in how things were set up at DOGE and who comprised the audit team. Now I believe Elon is very hands off as to provide a measure of protection against lawsuits attempting to use the avenue of attack you just used in an effort to derail DOGE in their mission. He is still drawing all the fire, but that serves to shield the team because for the past months he's not been part of the team.

Regardless, the audit of how our tax dollars are spent is a thing all Americans should support. It is completely bizarre to me that so many have jumped on the train to oppose the attempt to weed out waste, fraud and abuse simply because political leaders have instructed people to oppose it. DOGE is the most potent and competent effort at doing a thing that every administration, Republican and Democrat alike, has said needs to be done. If you want a thing I am happy out, that is where I'd start.

A good idea carried out terribly by people who are laughably non impartial and very obviously not working to serve the average American, then becomes an awful idea.
Aside from the ad hominem attacks on those performing the audit, what evidence do you have the audit is being "carried out terribly"?

What evidence do you have that they are doing a good job?

So weird that Musk provides updates when he is so far removed from what is happening at DOGE.

Do you believe this?

If so, do you expect they’ll be sending out checks to each taxpayer for the amount stated on that website once they are ‘finished’? If not, what do you expect them to do with all those savings?

And what were my ad hominem attacks on these ‘wunderkinds’ at DOGE? I don’t see any in that post you’re quoting.

Just that they aren’t impartial? Cmon man…

That they are finding issues and are introducing accounting practices that all business entities across the United States have been forced to comply with for decades.

I doubt they'll find the amount they promised at the start and I hope they don't. I want to believe there wasn't as much fraud, waste, and abuse as they were initially believing, but I want them to keep looking and find as much as they are able.

As for the refund checks, I hope not. It was inflationary when Biden did it, and it would be inflationary if Trump did it. Find the fraud, waste, and abuse. Put a stop to it. Institute changes that will make future efforts to find fraud, waste, and abuse easier. That is all I want.

So there has got to be some kind of inventory, or running list detailing what they are finding how they are going to get rid of waste, improve efficiency etc. right?

Just haphazardly taking a blowtorch to the federal budget with no oversight isn’t something anyone would be a fan of. They need to be accountable, efficient, with great record keeping so they can properly show us all the wonders they are doing for our country. Can you provide any kind of list or link like that to help assuage my fears?

More importantly, why use a decoy? In the example given the decoy was used so others could get away with crimes (drunk driving)
So musk is the decoy so that this other person can get away with crimes? Interesting....

I don't know if you've been through an audit, but that isn't how they work. Auditors aren't required to post all findings on a public list updated in real time as issues are found. Sometimes they do give updates, but usually all findings are presented at the conclusion of the audit.

The game they are hunting is extremely powerful. Musk is one of the few people on the planet who can stand up to them. He doesn't need money. He doesn't need to win reelection. Musk is standing in the breach to protect the auditors and administrators from those powerful people who would endeavor to protect their steams of money from being cut off.
