What's new

How can we exploit a dumb franchise?

I'd draw some parallels to the Kessler situation. The FO was super high on them after their rookie year, then they seemed to sour on them during their second year and both were benched by the end of the season. I think there are teams out there that might like Key more than we do, but there are also some teams who might just want a cheap 6th man under contract for the next two years. Lot of teams under a salary crunch.

I think DAL might really like Key, for example, as a Kyrie fill in. How would Nico value the 11th pick, for example, compared to Key?

Key would be a cheap PG for NOP and eventual replacement for CJ.

ATL supposedly had interest in Key....new regime but maybe he still has fans?

If DEN moves on from Murray (they don't have many pieces to play), would Key serve as a low salary alternative?

I think Keyonte would go to a young, up-and-coming team where he can get significant usage and shots. We mentioned Orlando being a fit for him. There could be a bunch of others. A lot can happen in a year and several teams need to make major changes, so it's difficult to speculate. A team that initiates from the wing and can play Keyonte at the 1, but off the ball, would make sense for him. It would be similar to Reggie Jackson's role on the Clippers (when they beat the Jazz).

The key is let them make the move, let them initiate. Let them call us. Play hard to get. Seem as if we really don’t want to make the move but would listen. Then go from there.

If we start reaching out, “Hey, what can we get for Lauri?! Durp, durp,” we’ll be offered *******.

Teams will call us about him. I’d guess a couple handfuls of teams. So be patient. Especially since his value is as low as it’s been for almost three years now.

DAL does not have many options to improve. They probably want to hold onto all of their higher salary players so they need a smaller salary solution at PG.

If the offer is #11 for Keyonte, we taking it?

I might take that Seems Keyonte is expendable

Did Key sign a shoe deal with Nike 7 years ago. If not then he isn't on Nico's radar. I would say it would be more like Key and 21 for 11 if it happened. Maybe we get something else that is small. If it was Key for 11 straight up I do it.

If Kas, Kon, or Tre are there at 11 then that’s a fine trade.
