It's kind of insane that you put Ani DiFranco and Nina SImone in the same category... The High Priestess of Soul is in a category of one, especially once she got political.

As a teenager things were very political. I grew up in a part of town with a huge drug and gang problem. It was a weird way to grow up, I was mostly insulated from it.

It turns out I'm only 3 degrees away from Nina Simone. My dad spent a night in jail with Dick Gregory, who knew her well.
 
Just returned from a Lumineers concert. What a great band. The vocalist came from the stage all the way down to the back, just where I was and we shook hands. I was surprised by how people shied away (I live in Bilbao). I said **** It, this is my moment. Also, they guy nodded at my Pearl Jam t-shirt before extending his hand he. If this were Buenos Aires (I've been to a few concerts there), he wouldnt stand a chance of getting out in one piece hehe1000050450.jpg
