I have a great plan. Draft well, give everything, make playoffs (and probably lose first round) next year (unfortunately also give OKC a ~20th pick. Will be great fun.
2026 first round draft pick to Oklahoma City
Utah's 2026 1st round pick to Oklahoma City protected for selections 1-8 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Utah's obligation to Oklahoma City will be extinguished) [Oklahoma City-Utah, 7/30/2021...
Warriors, Clippers and Grizzlies all win too. 4-way tie for 4-7 (with LAL one game ahead) a single game ahead of Wolves. Must be almost historically close.
Isn't coin flips prior to the lottery?
Edit: It does for example impact 2nd round pick as well, plus probably ping pong balls if they're an uneven number.
The chances of Wolves having to go through playin to get to the playoffs are pretty good. In that case all we need is a loss or two to send them to the lottery. It's not likely to be a very high lottery pick, of course, but a) some pingpong balls and b) at lowest the 14th pick.
Draft combine: May 11-18
Draft lottery: May 12
Draft withdraw date: June 15
Playoff finals game 7: June 22
Draft: June 25-26
Free agency: June 30 (I think, but at least after draft)
They still fill the seats in Delta Center, and unlike other bottom-dweller stadiums there's still a great atmosphere. I'm not sure if this was more or less than one could expect, but I'm not at all worried long-term. I certainly want to go back to Normal Days and enjoy games again, though...
I certainly agree that only a minority of fans (pretty small one too) want a 5-6 year tank. Just saying that a drop in viewership doesn't really say much, that was totally expected.
