2025 Playoffs Chat & Chill Thread

I don’t care one lick about how the Wolves do now that it doesn’t impact the pick for this year. For the next 12 months, I’d love to see their talent level depleted so they’re in garbage shape when the picks start coming due again. Would LOVE to see their cheap(ish) contributors all get priced...

    Gabriele Procida watch thread

I believe it becomes two 2nd round picks.

Keep, Trade, or cut? (Re-sign if you will)

Spurs still sucked the year they got Wemby. I believe they can do it.

Keep, Trade, or cut? (Re-sign if you will)

I think he’s going to tank. Maybe not as hard as this past year, but hard enough to keep the pick from OKC.

    Oscar

I like a guy like this for energy and practice. I hope they keep him. Ideally on another 2-way contract, but if he can turn his time on the Jazz into a full contract somewhere else - I’ll wish him well. Don’t think we have the roster spots right now.

    Oscar

Is Oscar available to keep on a 2-way next year? I think Harkless is under contract for next year, but I don’t know about Tshiebwa. I’d like to keep him and see what he can do with more time on the team and a little more consistency.

Keep, Trade, or cut? (Re-sign if you will)

Right now, nobody is off the table, but I’m also not going to throw people away before seeing another year of how they’re developing. Not when it’s likely that another tank season is in the works. I’m certainly not going to sell low just to sell. Keep - 9 Players being kept 01 - Lauri Markkanen...

Solving For Tanking, We're smart, let's figure it out

Celtics - Bird was drafted 6th overall in 78, but didn’t play for them until 79. Boston made a crap ton of trades before the 1980 draft and ended up with the #1 pick (via Detroit), which they traded to Golden State for Robert Parrish and the 3rd overall pick - which was used to take Kevin...

Solving For Tanking, We're smart, let's figure it out

I agree. It’s why I think this would be the most effective solution. Simplify the process, to reward the truly bad teams, but still limit the effectiveness of long-term tanking. Add to that the simplified pick protections, and I think it makes it really easy to get rid of the worst offenders.

Solving For Tanking, We're smart, let's figure it out

I took my thought process and gamed it out for the last three seasons - just to see what would have changed. Here’s how it broke down. (2020 Top 3 - Minnesota, Golden State & Charlotte - teams eligible again for a top 3 pick in 2023 2021 Top 3 - Detroit, Houston & Cleveland - eligible again in...

Solving For Tanking, We're smart, let's figure it out

Without the lottery, it’s at best a top 12 pick - I cant see a team throwing their chance at the playoffs for a top 12 pick. Now, if that pick has 3% chance at hitting on the #1 overall pick. . . that changes the calculation in a year like this one and next. Maybe make it so you can make a pick...

Solving For Tanking, We're smart, let's figure it out

I think they should actually eliminate the lottery. No more flat odds, just do it like the NFL does. Worst team gets the best pick, 2nd worst gets #2, etc. (they can start this year if they want to. . .) Will it eliminate the worst teams from tanking? No - but it will eliminate the teams that...

I’d actually be shocked if Ty year don’t trade Collins and Sexton this offseason. Wouldn’t be shocked to see them consolidate them into a single trade for a guy on a big contract and the team wants to get out of it - like Chicago and LaVine last year. Hopefully the Jazz can get some value for...

The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Eh, screw em. Mavs fans were so insufferable when they had Luka, that they deserve every ounce of misery without him.

    Let's go!!!

No. However, depending on how things are shaking out next year, I’d consider doing a deal with them if it looks like either Minnesota or Cleveland are set to end up below us (likely only in the case of a serious injury to a key guy on either team.) In which case, that pick is way more valuable...

    Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Someone sold me on starting at 5, and then working your way up the list as the lottery unfolds. Tre Johnson - Pretty damn happy. VJ Edgecombe - Pretty damn happy. Ace Bailey - Damn near ecstatic. Dylan Harper - Ecstatic and elated. Cooper Flagg - Over the effing moon. The Jazz need talent, and...

    Following Potential 2025 Draftees

I like him, but he’s not in my top 5 and the Jazz (mercifully) locked that up. Flagg, Harper, Bailey, Edgecombe and Johnson. I feel good about any of them ending up with the Jazz, and then more excitement as you move up the list.

    Our Big Offseason Addition

01 - Whoever they draft in the top 5. 02 - Healthy Tay Henny with “20 lbs of added muscle” 03 - Gabriele Procida - no buyout this year 04 - Whoever they draft with the Minnesota pick 05 - Steven Adams (please, please, please)

Sucks that he had such a fluke injury. Hopefully it doesn’t derail his career. I was excited to see what his growth would look like this season.

    2024-2025 Tank Race

Overall, I agree with this AND I think it’s reasonable to assume that there’s a decent chance that the Wolves will give Utah at least one decent pick during that time frame. They were on the razors edge of the lottery this year, and a handful of games that could swing either way kept them in the...
