I honestly don't think the Knicks were intending to go after Don this offseason. I think they were thinking that he'd hit the market in a year or two and that's when they'd be able to pry him away from us. It wasn't until Gobert got traded that they realized that his availability may have come...
When it was clear we were going the rebuild route, my only ask was to have at least a few players on the team that would be fun to watch. So, it was nice of the FO to oblige... In Sexton, we have a guy who can easily get 30+ any game, and there's a decent chance he'll average ~25/game. We have...
It’s probably not likely, but it’s definitely a possibility that MIN ends up in the play-in games and ultimately doesn’t make it to the playoffs. Again, not likely, but that’s the scenario that plays out that gets us in the running to get George.
First, in 2027, as it shows in the screenshot you included, we have both CLE and MIN’s 1st round picks (both unprotected). 2026 is when we have swaps with both. Easiest way to think about it is we will essentially get the highest pick amongst us, CLE and MIN that year. If we do end up swapping...
Ideally, we just tank for 2 years. I think we need to shoot for a couple high lottery picks in the next two years. If we can do that then I think we’ll let the chips fall where they may for the 2025 draft. It may happen, but there’s no way the organization is wanting to be a cellar dweller for...
I think this is definitely something the Jazz factored in when making this deal. Not a ton of downside here, but there's some scenarios where it pays off big-time.
My guess is that when CLE re-engaged with our FO, they probably said, "we're willing to 'up' our previous offer under the condition that you don't just use it to get NYK to match/beat it. If you're willing to do that, then we'll put this offer on the table."
Perused the Cavs fans' messageboard. Was surprised by how bummed they were that Markkanen was in the deal. Seems like that's their biggest gripe as far as personnel they gave up. The next biggest bummer was Agbaji. No one seemed sad to see Sexton gone.
Random question, but does anyone know if we could trade out a future unprotected pick we have from MIN or CLE, but we then put protections on it? Example, we trade out Minnesota's 2027 1st rounder, but we protect it 1-14. Doable? Not doable? Was just wondering.
