    We signed Emmanuel Mudiay

That is a thoughtful post that poses some excellent questions and makes some excellent points. The piece of information we are missing in our own analyses is how the coaching staff sees these player in practice, what their attitude is like behind the scenes, and how hard they work. It is...

    We signed Emmanuel Mudiay

Reinvent? Isn't that what he's always been?

    Third point

Because he might take the "best hair in the locker room" crown from Conley?

    Summer League Jazz vs. Memphis

Yeah, I know it's just one game (and one very painful game to watch at that), but since we're all Jazz scouts, we are supposed to be making observations based on this one game. I don't think anyone here truly believes one game defines any of these players, but we're all tuning in looking for a...

News, rumors and buzz around the draft and free agency

Would love to see Donovan eat Simmons's lunch in the Finals.

    Jazz sign Bojan

You've never heard of either? I believe one of them directed The Last Picture Show and Paper Moon. He was one of the most celebrated directors of the 70s.

    Jazz sign Bojan

    That wasn't the majority.

News, rumors and buzz around the draft and free agency

Now THAT would be an awesome development if it were even remotely a possibility. I'd love it if they sign Andrew Wiggins, Steve Francis, and Antoine Walker while they're at it.

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Except it seems that for the most part, numbers like DRtg, Defensive Win Shares, Def. Box Plus/Minus, et al, seem to track pretty closely to the players' reputations on the defensive end - with only a few exceptions -- particularly with a large enough sample size.

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

I've always wondered why NBA.com/Stats has numbers so vastly different than Basketball-Reference.com. Someone is wrong. Maybe both. According to basketball-reference, Jabari's season DRtg was 113; Udoh's was 100. That makes a lot more sense than NBA.com's numbers -- particularly when...

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Yeah, except the numbers seem to confirm he doesn't play much defense.

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Agree 100%. Haven't suggested anything to the contrary. Just hard to know what the answer is until you actually make the change: could be great; could be terrible; could be something in between. I just think certain posters and fans undervalue what Favors brings to the table. And I concede...

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Right again. Jabari is definitely worse on D -- probably mainly due to lack of effort. Nikola is absolutely not terrible, but some of the analytical numbers like Win Shares/48 and Plus/Minus make me question whether he brings more to the table than Favors. I suppose he could be just what the...

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

It was actually immediately post-recovery-from-the-punch that he had his best stretch. Maybe that's what you meant . . . .

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

You make good points, but I wonder how much damage someone like Niko or Jabari would do at the defensive end. I think Favors's contributions there may be significantly undervalued - and potentially more valuable than the uptick in value at the offensive end in terms of spacing that one of those...

For those Jazz fans that LURK here but don't post

Not sure I can or should be posting a link to a competitor forum on here, but I can tell you the website has exactly the link you would guess it has.

Player's Tribune: The Dream by Nicole Mitchell

Nicole Mitchell puts most of us (certainly me) to shame in terms of her level of parenting. Hard to know how someone like DM may have turned out without a parent like her (maybe exactly the same), but she seems absolutely awesome. Talk about having priorities in order . . . .

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Totally agree re Niko. I don't get the love: it seems to be based on a 25-game stretch with an underperforming and out-of-contention Bulls team. He's never replicated that stretch at any other time in his career.
