For those Jazz fans that LURK here but don't post

While Jazzhoops is a private forum, I think just about anyone can apply -- particularly with the endorsement of an existing member.

For those Jazz fans that LURK here but don't post

Hey, CK!!! Good to see you, my friend. Watcher moved over here as well. Now that Jazzhoops is back up and running (as of yesterday), I will have to split time between the two fora (forums?). I really like the level of activity and varied largely well-informed opinions on this forum, so I...

News, rumors and buzz around the draft and free agency

I know this is a basketball forum, but I assume most of you have heard of "The Curse of the Bambino," correct? For those of you unaware of this curse, in essence the Boston Red Sox were supposedly cursed and unable to win the World Series for 86 years (1918-2004) after trading away Babe Ruth to...

Rudy is DPOY for the second year in a row

Perhaps it would help you to watch full games and base your opinions on facts rather than "it seemed to me" opinions0 based on "highlight videos." Over the past three seasons, Rudy has had a greater impact on the defensive side of the court than any player in the game -- based on DRtg/Opp FG% at...

Player's Tribune: The Dream by Nicole Mitchell

Just got around to reading this. Wow. Truly fantastic. I have texted the link to just about everyone I know who I think will appreciate the read -- including several people who aren't even basketball fans. What an amazingly-grounded warm human being who just happens to have found the perfect...

Rudy is DPOY for the second year in a row

I posted this elsewhere, but this is the more appropriate thread: Woo hoo!! Way to go Rudy!! Well-earned and well-deserved. * With a Defensive Box Plus/Minus of 5.1, Rudy led the entire NBA - ahead of Giannis (5.0), Myles Turner (4.7), and Anthony Davis (3.9). * Rudy was 2nd in the NBA in...

    Some love for Rudy!

Woo hoo!! Way to go Rudy!! Well-earned and well-deserved. * With a Defensive Box Plus/Minus of 5.1, Rudy led the entire NBA - ahead of Giannis (5.0), Myles Turner (4.7), and Anthony Davis (3.9). * Rudy was 2nd in the NBA in Defensive Win Shares at 5.7 (behind only Andre Drummond at 5.9)...

58th pick - Miye Oni - traded from Warriors

I certainly don't miss the days when the Jazz would occasionally sell late picks for cash.

    Conley Officially a Jazzman

I'm sure there is blame to be apportioned around, but at least one report I read suggested that Wallace agreed to Lindsey's proposed deal, but wanted to "shop" the deal around to see if he could find something better. Essentially, he told Lindsey that if he couldn't find a better deal, consider...

    Conley Officially a Jazzman

LOL. Not quite. The Grizzlies GM who scuttled the deal at the last minute and then was basically fired a week later. If we had a reasonable GM on the other end of that deal, the Jazz may have had a very different end to the season.

    Conley Officially a Jazzman

Since I am still too much of a newbie here to post my own thread, I'll plug this question in here: does anyone else here blame Chris Wallace for the Jazz not making it to at least the Western Conference Finals, if not the NBA Championship (given the weakened state of the GSWs)? Now that the...

Jazz select Justin Wright-Foreman with the 53rd pick

Hard to know how much is effort and how much is "tools." 99% is obviously hyperbole, but three of the best defenders on the Jazz lack traditional "tools" to be great defenders: Ingles, O’Neale, and Crowder. All three have a reputation for lacking elite athleticism, but all three are thought...

Tobias Harris wants to come to utah

It's really impossible to know whether Harris's ability to space the floor for Mitchell & Co. would be more valuable to the Jazz than Favors's pick-n-roll/inside game/rim protection/back-up-5 strengths until we actually make the switch. From the For What It's Worth Department, Favors has had...

For those Jazz fans that LURK here but don't post

Hey! I just showed up this week when the successor to the old Jazzhoops forum (jazzhoops.net became jazzhoops.com in 2014) succumbed to some sort of virus, God rest its soul. Looks like you've got a pretty active forum, and looking forward to some great Jazz discussions.

Jazz select Justin Wright-Foreman with the 53rd pick

Of course, but plenty of perimeter players post terrific DRtgs. Marcus Evans, 6'2" out of TCU posted a DRtg of 87.9 this past season -- good for 9th nationally. Of the top 10 DRtgs in the country this past season, three were perimeter players. Not expecting any perimeter player to have a Rudy...

Jazz select Justin Wright-Foreman with the 53rd pick

And both dudes play zero defense. JWF's defensive stats are pretty abysmal. Giving up nearly 112 points per 100 possessions over his career is not great, and he had nearly the worst DRtgs on a Hofstra team that was pretty poor defensively over the past couple of seasons. I guess at 53 one...
