LOL... that fish has NO koke marks on it... none, zero, zip, zilch.

Notice how the scales are coming off all over onto the guys hands, etc. That always happens with kokes too. Not 100% sure why.

I have caught many many rainbows with a blue back. Especially those that are in reservoirs or lakes, as opposed to a stream or river. Even the guidebook states: "A rainbow trout is dark green to bluish on the back with silvery sides." I have also caught hundreds of kokanee and none of them...

Are you talking about the largest fish pictured? It's def a rainbow or a rainbow hybrid. The spots are also very telling. The shape of the fish and the tail are also sure bet signs it is not a koke.

Also, FWIW, I have caught a few kokes this time of year at the Gorge from my float tube on the fly. Kokes will follow the plankton they feed on (or whatever it's called). Early in the morning their food will be shallower, moving deeper as the water temp and sun rises. Small brightly colored...

None of the pictured fish are kokes... I just see rainbows and smallies... maybe a pic has been deleted? Here is a pic of a Flaming Gorge Koke. You'll notice how silver it is on the sides, and almost blue on the top of the back. It also has a tail that is almost forked, as opposed to a trout.

Just finished chapter 12. So far I like the book a lot.
