Here's a post for some reality. If the Jazz don't move Conley, this is what your roster looks like in 2021. There's 0 flexibility because the Jazz will be way over the salary cap and stuck with poor roster. The salary cap is expected to be $115mm. The Jazz will be paying luxury tax with this...
This is really not even newsworthy. Mitchell was ALWAYS going to sign this max extension. He would be insane to lose out on $30mm this season and take on the injury risk. The risk of losing Mitchell was never him not signing this extension.
The risk is if he demands a trade in 1 year or not.
With the understanding that Conley’s max contract will expire this year and the Jazz will then likely have no cap space to sign another player, who would you then prefer the Jazz trade Conley’s expiring deal + 1st round draft pick for if you could pick one of these four guys?
*Note that the...
I think the Pacers are a compelling trade partner for both sides. I think a trade could look something like this:
Jazz receive:
-Myles Turner
-Aaron Holiday (He's a big pick up because he can play PG and can shoot. He's young and on a cheap rookie contract. He adds cheap talent to Jazz with...
The Jazz signing Bojan will officially make them the least athletic team in the NBA.
Bojan, Ingles, Niang, Bradley, & Neto (can’t even dunk) all on the same NBA team?! Sheesh.
Because I think a more "sexy" team will get Gibson for the MLE and the Jazz would probably have to overpay to get him. I don't think that's the case with Kaminsky though. He may sign for more money but I don't think the Jazz would have to overpay to get him. You're probably right though.
If the Jazz sign Bogdanovic, that leaves the Jazz scary thin in the frontcourt. Gobert would be the only player who averaged more than 4.1 rpg last season. The partial MLE would have to be used on a big guy. Here's who I see the options as,
Not very realistic but still a chance salary wise:
Ed...
But read this line from that link:
"1/10/21 — Mike Conley’s $34,504,132 guarantees for 2020-21, unless he plays in 55 games in either the 2018-19 or 2019-20 seasons, which would lock in the 2020-21 salary sooner."
Conley played in over 55 games last season. Does that mean the salary is now...
There's a lot of conflicting information and difference of opinions out there was whether Conley actually has an Early Termination Option in his contract or not after next season. Everything I see says he does (meaning he could leave the Jazz after 1 year). But others are adamant he does not...
He'll be 32 years old when the season starts. And ugh, I guess I'm going to have to go through and list glaring examples of this happening...I was hoping I wouldn't have to do this.
