Sagarin ranking -- Jazz are #10

interesting. 7th highest in the west, well ahead of the next cluster: portland, houston, dallas. also says we've had the 14th toughest schedule - although that measure only looks at opponent record and not home/road.

NBA Columnist/Cavs Insider Sam Amico: "Jazz have made Burks available"

is that the best metaphor you can come up with? because corbin didn't knock anything off of burks' desk. corbin actually invited burks to step up and show he was ready for a bigger role. we knew coming in the jazz had 5 good wings and 4 wing rotation spots. corbin told all 5 guys the same...

NBA Columnist/Cavs Insider Sam Amico: "Jazz have made Burks available"

for the record... i'm not giving the "benefit of the doubt" to anybody. my opinion is what it is based on what i've seen - corbin gave him chances, burks didn't capitalize, corbin puts him back on the shelf for a bit. i'm not pro-corbin and i'm definitely not anti-burks. but the situation we...

NBA Columnist/Cavs Insider Sam Amico: "Jazz have made Burks available"

oh, boo-hoo. then he should find a rec league team where the coach is required to play everybody two quarters and they go out for milkshakes after. he'll get treated like a rotation player when he starts playing like a rotation player. funny thing is, burks knows all of this.

NBA Columnist/Cavs Insider Sam Amico: "Jazz have made Burks available"

getting the best of your ROSTER is one thing. getting the best out of every single player by handling everybody with velvet gloves is just unrealistic, and even phil jackson knows that (he says so in his book). every team has an 11th man, a 6th man, a core, d-league guys... ty can't make his...

NBA Columnist/Cavs Insider Sam Amico: "Jazz have made Burks available"

    1) you don't earn a role in the preseason. that's not what i'm talking about when i say burks hasn't earned it. 2) i never said that burks feels entitled to minutes. i'm saying that 98% of jazzfanz feels entitled on his behalf. 3) we're not talking about garbage time. burks had 4 straight...

NBA Columnist/Cavs Insider Sam Amico: "Jazz have made Burks available"

yeah, that's the right question to be asking... but burks is the guy who should be providing the answer, not you, not me, not corbin. the job os the people running this franchise isn't to make burks feel like he's part of the team. the job is to win and improve. if we start allocating...

NBA Columnist/Cavs Insider Sam Amico: "Jazz have made Burks available"

foye doesn't suck - but he knows his limitations and finds ways to contribute (more often than not). in 47 minutes of play this season, burks has yet to do anything that convinces me that minute number 48 will be better, or 49, or whatever. again, he'll get it figured out. but in the...

    Gary Payton Respects John Stockton

first time i ever sat courtside at a jazz game was a game against the sonics. stockton has just fought his way through a pick on the sonics' end by doing something dirty - elbowing the sonics' big or whatever. the big man flopped but the refs didn't call it. stock was able to catch up with the...

NBA Columnist/Cavs Insider Sam Amico: "Jazz have made Burks available"

probably my #3 frustration in every game (after the static offense and the lack of help D from the bigs) is foye's absolutely laughable perimeter D. so i get that foye has his weaknesses. but foye finds ways to contribute. carroll, who has maybe a third the talent that burks has, finds ways...

NBA Columnist/Cavs Insider Sam Amico: "Jazz have made Burks available"

expected some good conversation around this... should have known better. more jazzfanz MO: overestimate the value of our own young players while underestimating the value of everybody else in the NBA. people really think we're going to get bledsoe or rondo for burks??? burks has a PER of...

Do we still make the playoffs?????♡♥♡♥♡♥♡♥♡ £¥£

i listened to spencer hall's saturday show yesterday and he was sharing a pretty good breakdown someone did for his site, using vegas odds to project which games the jazz had to have to win to get to 45, 50, 55 wins. his hypothesis is that it takes 48-55 to qualify. (for the record i disagree...

Ante Tomic playing against Dallas right now on NBAtv.

yeah cuz most teams would love to trade a top-5 pick for a whiny veteran with declining skills and a late second-rounder who may never cross the water.

Pre-season Game 1: Utah Jazz vs. GS Warriors, Mon Oct. 8th 830 MT

that's what i was thinking. i read that ty quote and immediately thought they're going to do something totally out of left field and start kanter and paul or something like that.

Will the Jazz have an all star this up coming season?

nah, i don't think so. i think if the jazz are on a 50-win pace in january, the coaches will have to vote somebody in to represent the jazz (i hate that logic for all-star voting, unless it benefits our guys). if that happens, it's just as likely to be hayward or sap/favors (whoever's starting)...

Pre-season Game 1: Utah Jazz vs. GS Warriors, Mon Oct. 8th 830 MT

no way it's televised, guys. we know it's not televised on our end, and i just checked GSW's site and there's no TV coverage listed there either. so that looks like a bit, fat NO to me. GSW doesn't even broadcast all their preseason games on RADIO!

If Jazz had won coin toss, who would you have drafted?

i probably would have chosen between marshall and drummond, although admittedly i answer that way because i was looking almost exclusively at points and bigs. it's a mistake to do anything other than BPA when you're drafting that high, so the jazz probably would've been smarter and kept...

call it now: who will start at SF?

yeah, there's a chance everything you said here is right - but i hope ty tries something different. one thing even sloan used to do with his backcourt was basically have a 4-man rotation (remember, this was during the days of the 2-guard front, so "guards" were grouped together and not...
