I'd think long and hard about Lauri for #2. Hard pass on #3. IMO you better really like Brandon Miller or T. Hendricks to aggressively move up for #3 - we'll get a very good player at #9 as it stands.
IMO, we will be more aggressive in the trade market than the FA market over the next 1-3 offseasons to add cornerstone pieces. I think we'll be participants in free agency, and aggressors in the trade market.
I'd be for it on a cheap and/or flexible deal. Gotta be something we can get out of in 1-2 years if he's not the ideal fit.
My guess is (1) the draft will shape our FA strategy for depth pieces, and (2) someone will probably overpay him past what we'd be willing to spend.
I think WK will evolve differently than Rudy, but give overall peak edge to Mr. Gobert.
WK clearly has superior shooting/shot-making/offensive repertoire potential as a scorer. Rudy was a great offensive player but as others have pointed out that was screening, rim runs, catching/finishing...
This conversation is just semantics.
They are clearly not trying to lose games on purpose. They are, however, managing their roster/rotations to prioritize acquiring and developing future pieces.
Call that whatever you want to.
He’s definitely getting better. Can’t tell me he’s not a legit #1b option on a contender.
I prob watch 1/4 games this year, listen in on the rest while putzing. His athleticism just explodes off the screen watching live.
IMO - that's the kicker right there. He had soured on the organization/community and was almost assuredly gone in Free Agency. Trading him when we did was perfect in terms of maximizing return value.
Now we have Lauri Bird and an arsenal of draft capital to help build around him.
On his own merit, Bronny James is likely not worth a FRP.
But if picking him means 1-3 years of a still productive LeBron James - or holding whatever team wants LeBron ransom for his draft rights - he may absolutely be worth a late lotto or mid-first round pick.
I don't think anyone thought it was constructive or made any sense. We just wanted to see it for the spectacle, given that he's probably top 5 on the list of "least likely NBA players to ever play for Utah."
