I’m good with picking up Ayton in a Donovan move.
1) Won’t win us games by himself
2) Quality piece to build around in the future
3) Good young player we can rehab value for + flip for draft capital in a millisecond
Consistent with Commander Singe’s tank brigade.
I can understand the logic. But I think what we “know” we have in Donovan is not someone who will ever be the core piece in a championship team.
You get the chance to flip him for 4-5 first round picks, it’s an easy decision.
Nobody in the NBA cares about HoopsHype. Pretty sure GMs would dump all over that article.
By any metric Rudy is an elite NBA player. Don is overrated and on the decline, we’d be smart to capitalize on his inflated perceived value now.
If it’s Bojan + filler + one late first…fine. Any more I’m not onboard.
If we’re going to tank, let’s tank the **** out of this thing, and give us the best chance possible to be in the top 2 in the 2023 draft.
That would be a transformational pick.
Yep.
Not to mention - a “bad” (mid to late) first round pick can have tremendous long-term value. Teams want to buy into the first round on draft night for their guy and offer something unprotected in the future.
Never know what some of these turn into.
This is absolutely a tank, IMO. If we wanted to win, Rudy wouldn't be gone for a haul of crap + a boatload of draft capital.
Danny has been around the ****ing block. He is not looking at 6'1" Donovan Mitchell who plays garbage defense and is saying to himself "this is the guy we're going to...
Would much prefer to dump Donovan than give up some of these trade assets for DeAndre Ayton. IMO, building around Donovan will never be a championship-caliber team.
I would be extremely selective in any young talent that was targeted for long-term purposes. If we tank now, picking top 3 in the 2023 draft is the priority. Draft picks + garbage expiring contracts are our friend.
Tank is really the only way forward, IMO. It’s a certainty this roster won’t win so why delay the inevitable? The ASG? No chance.
My vote is take as many FRPs + as much crap as you can for Rudy and Donovan. NYK would be ideal given the near-term proximity of using a number of their picks (we...
Trading Rudy, but not blowing it up and trying to stay weakly competitive with a fringe playoff roster, is like the dumbest/lamest thing we could do. I’d be so pissed.
