I know some fans look at Troy Weaver as a punching bag but adding Simone and Grimes makes Detroit a better team.
Can understand why teams took a pass on Clarkson. He gets alot of leash here in Utah but has been playing really poorly relative to the $23 mil he's making this season.
Ochai could not defend big wings except mainly for the occasional chase down block. Hardy even commented at some point that he preferred Simone's size which is why he got the start.
I totally agree Simone is currently the better player so it's not worth arguing the point.
Agreed except Ochai's defense is a little overrated tbh. He's not great defending big wings which is why Simone took over the SF role. Dunn is better defending guards. Ochai kinda got lost a bit in Hardy's zone defense. Sam Merrill, Keegan Murray and a few others really got their shot off...
Hardy was rolling with 3 guard lineups in the OKC win which worked out ok. Mix and match Dunn, Sexton, Key, and JC. Dunn's defense makes it possible to play 2 of the others on the court with him.
Hayes isn't currently an NBA player. No shame in going to the G league for a year and learning how to actually play. It worked for Dunn who was also a lottery pick.
KO and Tecc are FA's after the season and therefore couldn't garner draft picks in this coming draft if they weren't dealt now.
As much as we like both guys neither was in the long range plans of the team. Like it or not DA is looking at the long game and not so concerned about making a play...
If Detroit and the Raps weren't interested than I have doubts they can move him unless they are willing to take back a worse contract. Might be best to just let him expire which they probably should've just done with Beverley and Gay.
I'm going to make a point to watch more Marquette games. Does anyone here have an opinion on Oso? From what I've seen he's a big with some actual handles. The 3 pt shot isn't there but there are no perfect prospects in this draft.
I still like Proctor but he holds on to the ball a little too...
Agreed.
Losing KO could cost them 1-2 games but don't think they will crater assuming they don't rest all their guys like they did last season. Tecc is the only starter that got dealt and am excited to see what TayHenny can do with NBA minutes.
Trying to stay positive. It's pretty obvious...
Yep he's having a really down year unfortunately.
Might as well keep him. Maybe Brice(?) is the eventual JC replacement but don't think he's ready at this point anyway. That $23 mil is a big chunk to match but will be alot easier when he's back down to $14 mil in the summer.
Sure we all like Ochai fine, who wouldn't with that kind of beauty, but looking at Hardy's rotations he was playing THT, JC, Sexton, Dunn, and Key more than him during certain stretches of the season. Ochai typically was like the 5th guard in minutes played behind all the ballhandlers. I think...
They tried to use him as more of a facilitator in summer league which of course failed miserably.
Just seems that Hardy prefers guards that have some level of ballhandling.
We had Ochai pegged. Yes he had beauty and athleticism but for a 6'-5" guard couldn't even dribble a basketball.
I will miss KO. Hated that trade last year but he really grew on me and was the engine of our bench with his shooting and ballhandling. He's a near perfect fit for the Raptors...
