The 2014-2015 season opens with the annual media day prior to training camp opening. This year media days is on Monday Sept 29th.

In case you are new or forgot, media days marks the end of summer and the start of the season. All the players have gained about 15 lbs of muscle, are in the best shape of their life, worked on their jump shot inthe offseason and are excited about the new season.

This year they will also be excited for the new coach, and believe they will be upsetting a few teams that overlook them. Hayward will be glad that the contract is behind him so he can just focus on playing. Burk and Enes are just going to play and let their agents worry about contract extensions. Burke thinks that he and Dante can co-exist as dual play makers in Snyder's new system. And Dante is just looking forward to finding his place and learning the NBA game.

But the Absolute best part of media days, the reason why it is marked on my calendar and I am counting the days is that it is the end of the long and dreary offseason and the beginning of Basketball. Jazz Basketball is about to return and I am ready.

May the force be with us or something.

Btw-- it is six days until meadia days. This is will be the sixth full season that Greg Miller is in charge, and the 6th season without Hot Rod Hundley. Trey Burke blocked 6 shots last year. The Jazz had losing streaks of at least 6 games three times last season. John Lucas started 6 games last year, Biedrens played in 6 games and had 6 fouls.

New Jazz man Trevor Booker attempted 6 foul shots in his 9 playoff games. Steve Novak has played in 6 playoff series and has played for 6 teams before the Jazz. When Dante Exum was 6 years old Jarron Collins and AK47 were rookies for the Jazz and Greg Ostertag was in his 6th season. Jerry Sloans 6th season as head coach was 1993-1994, that year the Jazz lost in the western conference finals to the Houston Rockets in the series two future Jazz coaches, Horny and Tyrone, combined to make 6 3pt shots. The rockets out shot the Jazz at the 3pt line 37-14 in the series, but amazingly the jazz lost three of the four games by only an average of 6 points.

Yesterday was 5 days to media Dayzz...

5 years ago the big question going into camp was Who would start at pf...the drama queen matador, or the undersized blue collar guy. The 2009-2010 season is my least favorite jazz season ever. It was full of drama, anger, disappointment and frustration. The board was full of anger in those days, not like the loving, open happy place it is now.

Harpring was injured and never played a game for the jazz that year. He would later be dumped to OKC along with the rookie pg Eric Maynor. It was rumored that 5 million of Harprings 6.5 million contract was covered by insurance. With Maynor and Harpring departing the Jazz signed Rookie Sundiata Gaines for the remainder of the season, he wore Harprings number 15, and produced one of the greatest highlights of Jazz history...the three pointer at the buzzer to beat Lebron...[video=youtube_share;-yawMyj4zQU]https://youtu.be/-yawMyj4zQU

Another undrafted rookie made a big impact that season, When CJ miles ruptured a tendon in his thumb in training camp, his injury opened the door for Wesely Mathews to make the team.

Lots of negative mojo 5 years ago. It was a dark time. Better days ahead.

Almost forgot, with the addition of. dainty Jones, the Jazz have eight players with playoff experience...5 players have playoff experience with the Jazz...can you name them?

Favors and Hayward come to mind, but I can't think of the other three without looking into it.

No Wiggins or Parker. What could have been....

Snap out of it! Exum, Hood, Hayward, Burks, Favors, Kanter, Gobert and Burke! 4 of which are rookies or sophmores and far, far from their full potential. Not to mention the very realistic chance for improvement in the other 4. Plus a new coaching staff that is both designed and buffed up on player development.

Gonna be a damn good year!

4 days to media days....

Last season...
Rudy Gobert blocked 4 shots in 9:53 of playing time in a 26 point loss to Milawuakee.
Jeremy Evans started 4 games, where he averaged 1.75 blks, 10.5 points, 8 rebounds in 23 minutes.
Trey Burke had 4 assists in his first Jazz victory. He had 11 or more assists 4 times. When he made 4 three pointers, the jazz had 4 wins.

I think people are going to be impressed with the way Burke runs the team this year. He'll have a real coach and some real spacing to work with. He's going to look much better than his rookie year, I think (hope).

ill be coming back from holland on monday. please keep on it, and post all the media day pictures here as they come out.

I would add Kanter, Novak, Burks.

~ Didn't look but I nailed it!

I know that Kant and Burks had some experience against the Spurs in their rookie season, and I thought a big shooting guy like Novak must have some under his belt.

This is like the first time I've guessed something right.

Lol. I think you got it wrong. The question was what 5 guys have playoff experience with the Jazz. Novak doesn't, but Evans does.
