4-point shot?

Im down for the 4 point shot and the 5 and the 6 and 7 and the8 and the 9 and the 10.

10 from anywhere beyond the opposite free throw line.

Make 4-7 just more rainbow lines 3 feet apart from the 3 point line. The 8 and 9 two lines between half court and the 10 point line. So basically a half court shot is 8 points.

make sense?

Wouldn't it create more front row seats, and maybe a row less seats in the back? Wouldn't that be more profitable?

How many courtside seats do you think get added by widening the court by 3 feet? If we assumed that all courtside seats are 12 inches wide with no gaps the answer is 6.

I suspect this isn't as much revenue as you think.

Likely not. Especially not for small market teams.

Making the court bigger just won't feel right. But it could be done

Not sure if trolling

Forget the 4 pt shot. If the nba wants to fix the anaylitics mess they have created they need to introduce some randomness. This might actually make the games interesting again.

I propose keeping the three point line where it is but eliminating 3 pt shots unless 1- your team is down by 9 or more, or 2- your team is in the bonus because the other team has fouled too much.

I would also eliminate advancing the ball on timeouts, and stop counting fg attempts on last second shots as someone else proposed. That way the rotten players will no longer have a financial incentive to wait until the clock expires before heaving a shot at the rim.

Finally
Now that the jazz have Gobert....make the ball live on the rim like the do in Europe.

I would like to see this happen.

I mean the nba has way more athletic players to really take advantage of it much better than teh euros.

Really want to mix it up?

After a player makes 2 shots in a row his next shot is worth 3 pts, the next 4, the next 5....

His streak is stopped when he misses, another teammate takes a shot, he is taken out of the game, timeouts, end of quarters, or when his team turns the ball over.

The stars would absolutely shine in this format, could you imagine Kobe Bryant, kevin Durrant, Lebron juiced trying to take shots worth 5 or 6 points while passing up teammates who were wide open? The nba has always been about stars.

And how about 4 jazz players running at Durrant to stop an 8 point shot? It would be a totally different ball game.

How about in reverse? After three straight buckets, their points are worth one less than normal.

I like it. Good idea for a video game too.
