A Different Way to Run the Offense: Put the Defense in Inefficient Spots

Most offenses have the concept to take efficient shots. But should that be that of differently. How do you take efficient shots if the defense parked on those spots to stop you. Shouldn't you trick the defense to be in bad spots? Is it possible to run an offense to make the opponent's defense in the least efficient spots and simply throw it to open most efficient spots?

For example, if Rodney Hood runs to the middle of the key, wouldn't the defense collapse on him, i.e., move to an inefficient spot and couldn't Rodney Hood pass to the the open man for a highly efficient shot?

I think we should try to outscore the other team. I heard that the team that scores the most points usually wins. So we just need to focus on scoring more points than the other team.

The key is to run an offense designed to get high percentage (paint) or high value (open 3s) shots with multiple options. That way, when one option is shut down, another opens.

A good offense also makes the defenders work so they get tired. If your offense largely allows the defenders to stand around, they'll have plenty of energy on the other end.

Sloan's offense had most of these elements, but would have been better (IMO) with a slightly larger focus on 3s. Teams hated playing us because they knew they were going to have to work on defense and fight through screens.

Our current offense largely has on ball screens and our screens are not that great. We need to do a better job of setting the defenders up when a screen is coming.

I don't care if we lose, I just want to watch well executed basketball. Is there any way to get full seasons of old Jazz games? :)
