Soy does not have a higher level of phytic acid than wheat and rice and lot of other foods consumed regularly.

According to this table it does.

That is off from other charts I have seen but there are variance in different charts, regardless this proves the same point, you are getting it from lots of things that are good for you and soy is not a particular concern.

Excessive amounts of soy are but that is the same as many foods that are good for you.

While I don't agree with his views on vaccinations and homeopathy his nutritional research is very sound. As with any source you can read through it and make your own conclusions. What in the article about marine vs plant omega-3 is not correct in your opinion?

His concussions and many other things he left out in the discussion. I dont particularly trust any of his research or numbers when he has been shown to be very dishonest and not trustworthy on many issues.

The omega 3 discussion has many layers to it and a lack of understanding in general to us. We are still researching lots about it and life long vegans do tend to have lower levels of EPA in their body but are also very healthy in the studies and have long lives so the health benefits and need of it are very debated.

Getting all of something nutritionally from one source is not healthy regardless. Whether that source is milk (which has many health concerns), Fish (which has healthy concerns) or flax seed. I personally eat all 3 but no in excess and also eat a very broad variety of healthy foods, including soy and other beans.

I am officially closing this thread for myself. I have wasted too much time in here. Good luck on your anti vegetarian and vegan campaign MVP, I hope you convince someone one day.

Never said anything negative about vegetarians. I am myself leaning to cutting down on chicken and red meat and increasing more fish and other seafood. As I said have no issues with ethical vegans either - it's their choice and if it is done properly is fine.... My main problem is people who do not do any research and dive into veganism as new fashion.... those are ticking time bombs to happen and especially when they start feeding their children that way.

Just MVP?

I'm glad you quickly took the L with NAOS.

I think the point of any discussion is to share knowledge and theories and find the common ground. There is no way me or you or Ron can change mind of some hard core vegan or other diet follower as for some of them it is worse than religion, they do it fanatically.
Soy is an interesting subject, I do not eat it at all unless as soy dip for sushi. Wondering if somebody who consumes a lot of soy can share their experiences - how do they feel about it?

I was a vegan for 4 years. I ate plenty of soy. The only way I come near it anymore is in the deeply fermented form: miso. The rest of it disgusts me.

Is it just a taste or you had some health issues because of that? What made you abandon vegan diet?

If I were to get granular with the details, it would be a long and boring story. The short version was that it was a particularly bad diet for my body, but the strong negatives took a while to really manifest. My weight was crashing, my energy was low, etc. I didn't do it for health reasons; and it was for health reasons that I stopped.
