Anthony Davis - Deal

I would rather see him on a smart team, but there is no way he gets out of New Orleans as a rfa

I'd ask to know New Orleans plan for upgrading the roster in the off-season and getting a new coach. If they don't present some solid stuff, I jump ship.

I wonder if Davis rejects the extension and basically shows 0 interest in signing long-term and all signs point to him taking a QO...... what would the Pelican do.

Can't believe how badly they ****ed up the Davis era so far.

Davis is going to be one of the highest-paid players in the league regardless. That extension kicks in the same time the cap is supposed to go up, no? Get used to seeing bigger numbers being tossed around. **** that's a lot of money though.

It's exactly why the Jazz shouldn't go full retard and go and dump assets for player like Lowry.

Had the Pelicans been patient and tried to take the path we are on, they would be in a lot better position. Or at least preserve cap space for a real free agent.

Somehow though, we have plenty of people on Jazzfanz clamoring for a Pelicans like approach to building the Jazz.

It's sad how bad they biffed it.

So, if he wants out, and they look to move him, can anyone offer more than we can? I'd toss Favors or Gobert and Hayward to the Pelicans for Davis. Would they get a better deal than that? We messed up the Harden trade. Don't mess this up.

Snyder

Exum
Hood
Favors
Davis

Holy ****.

The thing is, if we were to trade for him in his 4th year, we better have a good enough team to make the playoffs and make some noise. The reason he would want out of NOLA (enough so to threaten to sign a QO) is because of winning, so any trade for him we would still have to make sure were were good enough to compete and impress him.

Well a lot of their biff is bad luck with injuries. What if Gordon never had the really bad string of injuries and Holiday had been able to stay healthy the last 2 seasons?

IDK. Trading all the draft picks without better protections was dumb though.

Also, no one is suggesting we do anything close to the Pelicans. We got a lot of players on rookie contracts already, our cheap talent base is there. We can afford to go out and get a veteran contract player and it not be "skipping steps"

That team I had listed would be under 40 million in salary. We could easily add another 3-5 FA's. The question is, would Davis and Favors be enough to draw a big time FA here? Could you get Dragic to come and sign as a FA? I don't know if he'd leave Miami, but it would be tough to turn down playing on this team:

Dragic (max)/Exum
Hood/Burks
Carroll/FA
Favors/Booker
Davis/FA

Would someone like Dragic come to play with Davis? That would be a stacked team, and fits really, really well together.

Or you could do it this way (although I would rather keep Favors over Gobert in this scenario):

Dragic/Exum
Hood/Burks
Carroll
Davis/Booker
Gobert

That would put us in the 60-65 range of salary. We would be in a great spot.

Man, I want Davis to force his way out so bad. I really think we would be his best option, and he would fit perfectly here (although, lets be fair, he fit perfectly anywhere).

Could anyone offer more than we could? We could offer two all star level players on really cheap deals. Who could beat that?
