Best Board Games to Play?

I wanted to start a thread dedicated to everyone's favorite pastime, Board Games! (I'm asking for someone to make fun of me, I know) I was actually hoping for some suggestions. My wife and I have recently gotten into a board game phase where we are looking for new games to try between ourselves and with friends. We weren't really board game people until a friend of mine recommended Settlers of Catan, Acquire, and Carcassone. We can't seem to get enough now.

Any recommendations? Please include a brief description and why you enjoy the game.

There is this one game I play with my wife.

It has 2 dice..

One has Lick, Blow, Massage, and a few other actions.

The other has......................

Oh, and I like to play Monopoly because its fun :)

I've always enjoyed the classics like Risk and Monopoly.

I like Risk, but it's hard to play consistently. I think I would enjoy it much more if somehow the board wasn't always exactly the same. Risk on my iPad has lots of different maps (Europe Only, Civil War, Utah Wars, etc.) that force strategy to change.

Wow, that's cool as hell. I haven't played Risk in years and was going to put that myself, though it does take hours upon hours to play...I remember playing it once with four of us and I think it went like eight or ten hours. A somewhat similar game, which I love, but doesn't take nearly as long, is Stratego. I'm not sure that many people know about it but it absolutely rocks for the strategic aspects it involves. And one game only takes an hour or so, give or take.

Is it some type of battle simulation? That's what it looks like from the picture.

Yeah, you get a Flag that you must protect with your bombs, spy, General, Captains, etc., etc., etc.....higher ranked people beat lower of course...but I think the Spy beats the Captain...there's bomb diffusers too...I'm getting the exact title of each person wrong but that's the basics. How you set up your pieces to both protect your flag AND stay on the offensive to get their flag is very, very fun, and then how you then proceed once the game starts gets very interesting.

This sounds pretty cool, I'm going to have to pick it up.

I'd say it's the best board game out there. IMO anyway.

I used to love it too, back when I was six. I'm sure my old board is stuffed away somewhere deep at momma's. I've graduated to card games. I like to start with the drinking game *******, presidential scum, rich man poor man, or whatever the Japanese version is called. From there it graduates into strip poker. If that goes as planned we chuck the cards aside for lesbian twister.

Trying too hard bro. Trying too hard.

That said, when I get together with friends and we drink, we usually play Total Recall (lots of fun), Trivial Pursuit (I'm still a big fan of the original Genus Edition), Cranium, or sometimes Pictionary.

Right. Stratego isn't exactly a game you pack into Gameface's basement and breakout after getting broken out. It's a great 2 person game though for people who like moderate amounts of strategy without devoting an entire life to the craft. My wife is into luck games so much so that I haven't even cut the wrapping on my Risk game. Cornering her for a Friday night rendevous of Stratego wouldn't fly, and trying to do that with friends seems creepy.
