The Utah Jazz have picked up Trevor Booker's contract for the 2015-16 season, according to sources. @Tjonessltrib first reported.

Good. Love "Bad ***" Booker. Looking forward to him lighting a fire under these young kids and teaching them how to play like men.

I am getting VERY excited for this team. I think we are going to shock some people. Can't wait!!!

Looking beyond next year, I wonder if the Jazz will retain Booker long-term? I guess it all depends on how much promise Lyles shows/doesn't show this year.

Is spending ~5% of your salary cap on 5th big with great locker room presence worth it? Hm... might be. I don't think I would mind it.

Not surprising at all. The roster is pretty much set at this point. Only battles left to see is who sticks amid the Neto/Hanlan/Cotton/Johnson quartet.

I wondered this too... might also depend on if Pleiss is any good. If Lyles and Pleiss show they are ready for more PT and are almost as good as Booker it would be good for us to get them on the floor for development purposes. If Booker doesn't mind being a 5th big though I'd love to have him... he could be our Nick Collison.

I can't see Booker being OK with being a 5th big.

Collison was the 3rd big in OKC for the majority of his career, not the 5th.

Love Booker. Really glad he's staying. He's a great tough guy on the court and seems like a great teammate/chemistry catalyst. Doesn't hurt that he likes it here so much. That's always a plus.

Its too bad. Hes good enough to be a 12th man and make an NBA roster. At least we know hes there if needed.

I think an NBA team will snatch him up if we let him go, but that said I think bringing Booker back is obviously much better for us. It will stink if we let Cooley go and Pleiss ends up being a stiff.

Fantastic. For too many years this team lacked a tough guy (actually Earl Watson was one but a bit too small...though I loved how he stood up to people). Actually I think Gobert is one too, but Booker is a guy who would have punched a dofus like Deltote West in the face if he pulled that wet willy crap in front of him.

I'm not a big fan of Booker but his contract is fair and well-deserved. Anyway I hope he won't be on the Jazz long-term plans.
